looking for business opportunity
hi everyone
i am travelling to cambodia in Dec this year and am looking for a business opportunity....maybe small scale guest house/bar. If its a bar only it will need to have accomodation attached but i would prefer to have some rooms to rent out alongside it, maybe small cafe? If anyone has any info please let me know with details, costs, lease arrangements etc. I am looking at Sihanoukville mainly because I would like to be near the beach and islands rather than in the big city of Phnom Pehn but all serious options in other areas will be considered. Obviously I will not be there for some time to check the place so this is an early enquiry but is a serious one....I am thinking to check out the areas in Dec with maybe a view to making a committment early next year if the right deal comes along. The maximum budget available would be around $50,000. All thoughts appreciated......cheers

Hi og,
I may be wrong, but I'd like to suggest that a guesthouse/bar is probably the worst business choice you could possibly make.
Way too much competition, low profit margins, dangerous if you don't own the property
Try something else, you're 10 years too late.

Fishmonger?
Tyre-fixer?
Mobile phone shop?
Bookseller?
Sunglasses?

Bit premature - deposit paid, balance to be handed over tomorrow. THEN I'll post!

Edit: To the OP, Have you thought about shoe shining, the skinny looking bloke working Soyamo looks like he might need a friend.
Wouldn't be a huge investment either.

thanks vlad
appreciate your honesty......doing my research i think youre probably right....although im not in it to make millions (i know that aint gonna happen) but more a lifestyle change.....enough to get by, that sort of thing. With my relatively low budget just wanted to check a small little enterprise that would provide a simple but happy lifestyle with enough to live on......still i guess youre right......anyway we are still comin this Dec, mainly in Snooky, so are well looking forward to it.......much obliged with the info you people...peace x
