Peroxyacetic acid or its components??
Peroxyacetic acid or its components??
I was told that I could use peroxyacetic acid to effectively clean veggies before sale. My contact said that chemical was made from acetic acid and hydrogen peroxide and when broken down after use would form water and vinegar - thus making it safe for environment and health. Anyone know where in Phnom Penh I can get peroxyacetic acid, or acetic acid and hydrogen peroxide in order to make the solution myself??

For Acetic Acid just use White Vinegar from LSH 5Lt = $5. Vinegar is about 8% Acetic Acid + Water. Hydrogen Peroxide is used in hair colouring so you might be able to find a hairdresser supplies that has it in dilution? If it is a cottage industry amount you might be best going to these common use places but if it is industrial amounts this won't be much help.
Thanks very much for this info, and the reply about vacuum machine in other thread! Sorry, but what is LSH? I will try to find out if I can make PPA myself with regular white vinegar and Hydrogen Peroxide, and whether HP is available here. Just in case I am able to use chlorine, do you know where I can find that?
Vinegar will change the taste of your veggies.
You can buy the solution at some Pharmacies - but pretty expensive. Better if you have someone in Vietnam to get it for you.
Dickson Foo at LSH:
LSH Cambodia Pte., Ltd Address: 11, St.9, Chamkarmorn, Phnom Phen Tel : 023864168/023864588/012800833/017 388 399 Fax: 023 864 988

Too old to die young!
Thanks ChefSamba for that info! Do you mean if I try to make the solution myself by mixing vinegar and Hydrogen Peroxide that will change the taste of my veggies, but if I buy the PPA already made from a pharmacy it would not? Any suggested pharmacies that might have PPA? Dickson Foo at LSH has the vinegar in large quantities only, but not PPA?? Just in case I find that I can use chlorine, where can I buy that in PP? Thanks again.
Do you need large quantity for commercial?
PM me.

Why not use the special vegetable washing solution, available in local supermarkets?
Available in the fresh vegetable section of Lucky.
Cost $1.80 per 250ml squeezy bottle.
Use 1 tsp in a bowl of water.
Certain that this stuff must be available in bulk.
(Safer than mixing acids with powerful oxidising agents in your bathtub)

I didn't know about the Lucky product. Sounds interesting. I will be cleaning up to about 500 or 700 kgs of veggies per day. Probably would use a few hundred liters of water with cleaning solution for that, but just guessing. Maybe need something in more bulk and lower price to be practical. Do you know the ingredients of that solution at Lucky?
No idea what the ingredients are, it might not be fully labelled in English.
Even though you need industrial quantities, it could be worth checking out a bottle of this as a sample,
it might be useless, or it might give direction to your search.
In Lucky Sorya, it was a fairly obvious display in the fruit and vegetable section, not with the cleaning products.

Hydrogen Peroxide can be bought in very small bottles for 800-1500 riel. I also found one considerably large bottle that was between 1 and 1.5 liters that was quoted to me for $3. Always found at pharmacies.
The 800 riel mini bottles I found at the pharmacy across the street from the Capitol bus stop at O'Russei Market in Phnom Penh. In Sihanoukville, the big bottle (and the same little bottles for 1500 riel) I found at the pharmacy in between Samudera and the big market on the opposite side of Samudera, further past the locksmiths if you're heading toward the big market on the same side of the road as the locksmiths.
The little bottles are imported from Vietnam and say Nuoc Oxy on the label, if I recall correctly.

I am looking for Food Grade PAA on a huge quantity for sanitizing.
Is there a company that has that?
