Not sure where the owner lives, but no way a Lamb would get down my street.
I think they are not popular in Cambodia because even a cyclist can physically look down on you.

I think not. Over-styled and there are many other cheaper options that are much better valued "super" cars - they are crass and garish and almost completely "undrivable" in most cities.DetroitMuscle wrote:Nice cars.
Ridiculous looking cars for insecure wankers with too much cash and too small of "tools". They should all be wiped from the earth and their extra $$ spent on cleaning up the environment.
If...if you're going to be a stupid fool and have to 'show off" do it with a Plymouth Hemi "Superbird" at least - have some real taste - right, DM? Right?
Let the revolution began...right, Comrade Vlad?

Common fallacy: but the money spent on the car keeps circulating, either immediately or later. So what you're really asking here is workers producing such cars should clean up the environment instead. Which is.. an opinion I guess.Dagenham wrote:They should all be wiped from the earth and their extra $$ spent on cleaning up the environment.

Newer Lambos are actually quite nice to drive in the city, Gallardos have a really light clutch and gear change, almost to the point of strangeness to me. I'm used to the sledgehammer feel of the Countach which I'll agree, quite useless to drive as an enjoyable experience in any urban area.Dagenham wrote:I think not. 4 "arguments" though from me in a friendly way.
1. They're not driven much usually, so their impact is rather small on the environment.
2. Cars like those actually don't do much to hurt the environment because of three reasons. One, they are recirculated over and over so a new car is never made in it's place (metal production, recycling, hiring workers, running a paint facility, etc). My car had changed hands almost 10 times when I got it.
3. not that many cars are produced nor are they really that expensive i.e. The Gallardo was the best selling worldwide Lambo with roughly 14,000 units made over a 10 year production run but yet the worst selling pickup truck in the U.S. alone (the Nissan Titan) is set to match the 14,000 units sold (not produced) for the year 2014 alone and also produces similar fuel economy to the Gallardo. Also, if you take 10 Ford F-150 base models, you've got the money to buy a Gallardo. Not saying it's cheap, but $200-300k is rather chicken change compared to the scale of the automotive industry and the money that flows through it. Lambo is a great poster, but not a great business model. No volume.
Also, cars don't make that big of an impact on emissions compared to agriculture, trucking, airplanes and electricity generation. Even if we ALL stopped driving our cars and walked, we're still producing 80% as much of the greenhouse gases than if we were driving.
4. Most of us "insecure wankers" just like the car itself. I like the Countach because when I was 5 years old I had a poster of it and thought it was "teh best car evar". Part of me still feels that way about some cars and regardless of what people think, I'm going to buy them in the future for me and me only. Whenever you turn up at a car show, you'll see a mass of people that you'd have no idea own a car like a Ferrari, Lamborghini, etc because we don't care for attention. We just like the cars and like those who share our same hobby.
In my experience, those that seek attention with those cars are usually clueless rich kids, celebrities, and banker wankers.

IN my perfect world, no human would be allowed to spend more than $100,000. on a car. Period. Double Period. It's mostly about greed and status. Who the fuck "needs" a car that cost more than 100K? Really now?
Meanwhile, billions starve. Fuck Lambos...and the rest of 'em too...

Don't suppose you'd have the patience to explain how the very real problem of widespread starvation (historically and statistically and relatively getting better all the time btw) is connected to "all cars that cost over 100k --- not to make, but to buy"...
Surely you don't draw the line at cars. Surely you'd apply your logic equally to phones that cost 800 (not to make, but to buy), houses that cost 500k (not to build, but to buy), etc. etc.? Just trying to grasp the reasoning. We already tax these productive industries but if you propose to just nix them entirely, I'd wonder how that'll feed billions automagically?

oh my god... the plymouth superbird is the ugliest car ever made! at least go for a roadrunner if you are going in that direction.
from that generation I'd take a mk3 norton commando personally.
Too right that! it is monstrously ugly - the Superbird but...it trumps any Lambo for attention by a factor of 1000. And it's lightning fast and brutal with very low-technology.johnnyj wrote:Dagenham wrote:I think not. Top ones sell for over 1/2 million now (very low miles - untouched, etc.)...back then new? $4,298. A lot of cash back then in 1970...so it goes...

They do indeed sell well, but the roadrunner is in a similar market....Dagenham wrote:Too right that! it is monstrously ugly - the Superbird but...it trumps any Lambo for attention by a factor of 1000. Its amazing to think you could get a 500ish HP car for relatively cheap, however a stereo was the most expensive extra!!!

I saw two new Bentleys around Psar Thmei yesterday at different times. One was black and the other was white. The owner of the white one gets extra credit for removing the plastic protectors around the handles and other parts intended to protect the car in shipping. The owner of the black one decided to leave those on.
If you're reading this you made poor life choices.
Lynch them all - random mob justice - tar and feather a few and then all these luxury cars would instantly disappear from the streets - ha!splinter wrote:I saw two new Bentleys around Psar Thmei yesterday at different times.
