I think the Chinese is much more interesting: "we will only commencing fighting the fire once USD 600.00 have changed hands".....

There is a law in Cambodia which requires that Khmer script be at the top and all others below.
I have only seen this contravened twice on official signage, once when the Vietnamese chief came here, and this time, when the writing is in Chinese and no Khmer is visible.
I guess if they own the country...

ירי ילדים והפצצת אזרחים דורש אומץ, כמו גם הטרדה מינית של עובדי ההוראה.
There was that law, or perhaps even that law still exists. But less and less buisnesses are abiding by it. Check out the signage of most new businesses and they're mainly in only English nowadays.vladimir wrote:There is a law in Cambodia which requires that Khmer script be at the top and all others below.

Romantic Cambodia is dead and gone. It's with McKinley in the grave.

Yes, but I was actually referring to signage done by the Khmer government/municipality itself.Rama wrote:There was that law, or perhaps even that law still exists. Can't translate as I don't speak chinese but I went into SHV harbor custom warehouse when the first trucks arrived from china about 6 years ago. I was told they were a gift from china.Rama wrote:Understood Vladimir. Sorry.
Re the fire trucks: they're donated from China, so either a)it's the old markings or b)it reads "donated by the People's Republic of China" ?
There were dozens of them, that seemed brand new, parked inside the warehouse. They also stayed there for many months, probably until some ministry jerk found the time to sign or proceed the needed paperwork.

Yes but can you see a little old Christian lady calling this number? I think she'd have a heart attack before that lol.
"666 what is your emergency?"
"Ah... Satan? My house is on fire."
"Then our job is done, thank you for calling. All hail the dark master!"
