Thanks a lot for all the useful infos and the arrival cards.
One question: do you need supporting documents when applying for an ordinary visa at the airport? I am a self-employed freelance planning to move to Cambodia, so I don't have any employer/invitation letter to show... Would this be a problem?
Thanks a lot!

No! No need! You buy it, any questions (rare & only if they're bored or you look super dodgy) you just say "I'm here to scoop out local biz opportunities" and that should be it. The guys at the airport usually don't really care.papiccioto wrote:One question: do you need supporting documents when applying for an ordinary visa at the airport? Damn, this new breed of well-meaning "everything by the books and with everyone's proper permission stamp" arrivals are only bound to "give them ideas" sooner or later if everyone keeps asking (implicitly) for ever more regulations and fees, they'll sooner or later provide
One question. After 1 year of living in Cambodia, you must go out from the country, or you can extend your visa? I am planning to come to Cambo to start an art school for poor children. Can you please help?
You used to be able to renew your business visa once a year. Currently it seems they only will let you renew it (as per when I'm not sure) if you also have a working permit. Since you maybe don't have an employer - the school doesn't exist yet right? Will the school be officially registered with the ministry? I guess not?Skaven wrote:One question. If it's all no's then you won't have an employer, so no working permit, so no visa extensions. That's the info available now so it seems.

But could that person just fly to Bangkok for a weekend, fly back, get a new business visa, and extend it for a year?Kachang wrote:

Yes they could, but currently there is no need to because 12 month extensions can still be renewed without having to provide WP, but who knows if/when that will change.gavinmac wrote:But could that person just fly to Bangkok for a weekend, fly back, get a new business visa, and extend it for a year?Kachang wrote:

Well, i would like to register the school, if that is not a problem with their ministry. The school doesn't exist yet, you are right. I am really planning to do it, and hopefully stay for a longer time. I wanted to move to Sihanoukville, and i hope that will be a good step. As i understand, i could use the business visa and renew it at the end of the year? Or do a visa-run? I am hoping to have a small school for ones who loves art and wants to do it, is it possible to open the school? Hopefully Cambo people would appreciate it? Sorry for all the questions, but i really want to move from Serbia ( Europe ), where i am living for last 36 years, and never got out. I would be sad if i must go back in one year. Is it safe to do it now, moving and opening small school for digital art?

You can register a school in Cambodia, but you either need contacts high up in education (in the POE or in the ministry) and cash, or you need loads of cash. Also, I think in one year it's impossible to reach that goal. Without a license I think in Sihanoukville your school will be closed pretty soon, but I don't live there so I don't know for sure. Maybe money can keep it open....Skaven wrote:Well, i would like to register the school, if that is not a problem with their ministry. The school doesn't exist yet, you are right. I am not aware of the current situation in Sihanoukville but I was there about 7 years ago and there seemed to be loads and loads of NGO's and schools catering for the poor. I really don't know if they're in need for any more....
Dear PSD_Kiwi,
Thank you for the forms that you uploaded. Really appreciated it especially the health form. Not all airlines are giving out while we were on the air.
Say, has anyone tried printing the health form and handed it over to the quarantine officer at PNH airport?
Also, has anyone been harassed for tips by the immigration police officers at PNH airport lately? I have been asked for tips on my last two visits over there. It is really bad to see such corruptions are being blatantly practiced at the front line of a country.

May I ask you, what is your nationality?arikevin wrote:Also, has anyone been harassed for tips by the immigration police officers at PNH airport lately? I have never, nor has anyone I know, ever been asked/harassed by immigration officials for tea-money at PNH. I have heard that non-Cambodian Asians and Africans quite often get harassed for tea-money, but I cannot confirm how true this is.
