Advice desperately needed (lower back pain)
I somehow tweaked my back this morning and it has gotten progressive worse up to the point where I can barely get out of bed and with significant pAin. If my back gets worse, where do you think I should go? A good hospital or clinic? I can barely bend my back. Any advice would be greatly appreciated.

Painkillers and sleep on the floor, on your back.
No point commencing any therapy until the injury has stabilised/spasms or swelling subsided.

try going for a decent deep tissue massage (legit place lol) it could be a trapped nerve and with stiffened muscles surrounding the area apply more pressure creating more pain, a simple deep tissue massage could help, after a couple of days/a week if the pain persists id get it looked at

Sorry to disagree with jackal but if you fear to have done any damage to your spine you should check it immediately at a hospital before it gets a chance to stabilize and turn chronic. I ignored a shoulder injury some years ago when after few days at the time seemed self healed. Still regret it.

For an orthopaedic issue sure, but for a muscular issue then, initially rest, on a firm surface and anti inflammatory painkillers would be most physios recommendation for a day at least.
But I'm no doctor.

Wow, dangerous advice in a country where 99% of the people giving "massages" have no real knowledge of the practice. Even with the "legit place lol" caveat emptor, this is a really bad suggestion.Jamie_Lambo wrote:try going for a decent deep tissue massage (legit place lol) it could be a trapped nerve and with stiffened muscles surrounding the area apply more pressure creating more pain, a simple deep tissue massage could help, after a couple of days/a week if the pain persists id get it looked at

Exactly how you did it might give more of an indication to what is wrong.
Jack makes a very valid point about professional consultation but a good rub with an ibuprofen based gel and a night on a wooden floor (Jackal) has been known to fix many a muscular/skeletal injury.
After the gel kicks in (about 4 hours) you might also consider a little inversion therapy. You can do it yourself but obviously dependant on your physical condition and other factors. You can also do a few gentle exercises while layed in bed that might easy it and also give a better indication of what is wrong. (Google will show you a range, you can match the most appropriate to your current condition)
Either way I hope you get sorted soon

Nothing but an opinionated tourist. The Pope spends more time in countries than I do ! It is also not my place to comment on a gentleman's dress. A real 23 minute wonder, that obviously knows little about ovens and cooking in Cambodia.

You may first want to explain where your back hurts, what kind of pain and with what kind of (non-) movement this happens.
Upper back problems are completely different from lower back ones.

Completely agree. Sounds like jackal has had lower back experiences.I have had lower back spasms semi regularly over the years. Come with no warning and floor me immediately. Generally also leaves me feeling like I'm recovering from a solid kick to the nuts,I guess because your core and groin are all anatomically connected. I just hit the ibuprofen, hot water bottles and bed for a couple of days until I can walk at least.I'm then walking with the posture of a question mark for a few more days and able to get to massage ( master kang ) . I stay away from chiropractors and physio.they're a sham. Prefer osteo if available.Jackal wrote:Painkillers and sleep on the floor, on your back.

It definitely sux when this happens and you're alone with no-one to fetch drugs and food etc. I thought the idea of eating some dope was a good one.maybe dial a happy pizza and kill two birds with one stoned ?
Good luck with it.
