Actually attaching the harness makes a huge difference, in Cambodia they dont usually bother. Dropping a bag of cement on the foreman used to be a good way of getting rid of him in the UK.
That would be rather stupid though wouldnt it ken? Especially as bags of cement almost never make it above ground level, where the mixer is.

I'm not exactly experienced in the construction industry but if you cannot imagine the necessity and/or efficiency for mixing cement close to where it's used, i.e. Above ground floor then you are probably one of those foreman being targeted by rogue projectiles.krisduncs wrote:That would be rather stupid though wouldnt it ken? Don't think hauling a 3tonne + mixer up successive floors would be very efficient, compared with piping or using a skip! Then where would you put it!Gin&Tonic wrote:I'm not exactly experienced in the construction industry but if you cannot imagine the necessity and/or efficiency for mixing cement close to where it's used, i.e. Above ground floor then you are probably one of those foreman being targeted by rogue projectiles.krisduncs wrote:That would be rather stupid though wouldnt it ken? My neighbor is building a house and he is not going to use a skip if he can hire 12 laborers from the boonies that can mix the cement on the top floor.

Brickies, plasterers and tilers usually knock up close to where they are working. How did a bag of cement become m3 of concrete?

Not sure how much some here know about the building game but there are often cement bags on upper floors used by wet trades. In London back in the early seventies concrete was often mixed by hand on upper floors. But there were worse projectiles, big galvanised piss buckets everywhere. Often not emptied for months and pretty crusty, lobbing a brick into one as your mate walked by was a good one. As was simply tipping it over an opening in the slab or over the edge of the building.
This nanny state OH and S stuff has ruined a lot of the humour on building sites.
