You seem very defensive and very eager to appear that you are the supreme authority on this subject. Strange.andyinasia wrote:Actually I'm not assuming. My comment was based on two things:
1. This country has a history, one might even presume to say a culture, of corruption regarding advancement of anyone in society. Education is becoming a means to advancement, despite the best efforts of some.
2. Whilst I have absolutely no doubt that the Minister of Education is sincere in his intentions, I am less impressed with some people who he has no choice but to trust in the implementation of his program. I have likewise no doubt that the said Minister, an individual I have immense respect for, is similarly aware of possible shortcomings in said implementation due to human nature, especially in a culture which has been so reliant on the patronage system.
My own beliefs are:
1. The system will need constant vigilance to ensure those trusted with the implementation are themselves accountable, and
2. Despite your mistaken beliefs, there are other people in the country who may have valuable input apart from yourself.
I apologize if I have wounded your pride and confidence that you are omniscient in this field, but perhaps same is misplaced?
