They could if they wanted I believe. But not if you are ranking on place 156 on the corruption index out of 174 countries..........and.......have you ever seen ANY indicator that the Cambodian government actually cares about its people ?Gin&Tonic wrote:So you think the government can't run a system of checks with integrity but a two bit English factory can?

There's too many and nowhere near enough teachers.scobienz wrote:Serious question, and there's no spin on my question, but are there many male preschool and kindergarten kids generally, both in Cambodia and elsewhere? The only people I can think of who do that are women.
I worked in the adult english program at my current school before being transferred to kindergarten, my class size jumped from 10 students to over 40. If I didn't have my TA's, I don't think I could handle it, it's an absolute nightmare compared to adults.
I had a few friends who have worked in kindergarten programs at other schools and they all said the same thing, huge class sizes. I heard a particular horror story from a Canadian teacher about having over 60 kids in a classroom intended for about 20.
Anyone who does the legal marriage route will habe to visit some department on the riverside, along with passport and letter from embassy for a 'criminal check'.
If that can be done for the wimminz, surely it can be done for the kidz..

We male preschool teachers are a rare species but we do exist. The international school I work in Singapore has 18 classrooms at preschool level and three teachers, myself included, are male. Although it is uncommon, some schools actually welcome male preschool teachers precisely to offer some balance. I've also had parents asking for me to be their child's teacher because rightly or wrongly they wanted a male influence.scobienz wrote:Serious question, and there's no spin on my question, but are there many male preschool and kindergarten kids generally, both in Cambodia and elsewhere? And if memory serves Gonk taught at preschool level for a while.

The subject of pedophilia does almost seem an unhealthy obsession with some members on here.bitcambodia wrote:This board is too obsessed with pedos to have picked up on that.

1) There are 42800 threads on Khmer440. How many do you suppose touch upon the subject?
2) At a time when around half a dozen western paedophiles on the run from their home countries have been arrested for working as teachers in Cambodia in the last 18 months, with seemingly zero checks done or caution exercised by the employing schools, I think it's inevitable that it's an issue which will reoccur now and again.
If you want to avoid the subject altogether, I suggest you try Cambodian Parents Network.
I'm not even going to read this shit but I do not live in this part of the world so I can hear annoying terms like gender discrimination.
Bollocks to that.
Bollocks to that.

I'm curious, since others seem to be keeping better track of this than me, how many barang teachers in Cambodia have been arrested for sex crimes against their underage students in Cambodia?scobienz wrote:At a time when around half a dozen western paedophiles on the run from their home countries have been arrested for working as teachers in Cambodia in the last 18 months, with seemingly zero checks done or caution exercised by the employing schools, I think it's inevitable that it's an issue which will reoccur now and again.

No illiterate person ever complained that the term 'stoopid non-reader' was used for them.
Obviously they dislike PC, or they would have complained.
