A modern injury
RSI of the basal thumb joint (CMC/carpometacarpal joint)
I have developed it in both thumbs over the past two weeks. I ignored the early warning signs over a couple of months before it really flared up. I have a wider screened phone (LG G3) and I had been stretching my thumbs across it regularly rather than using both hands at once. I kept doing it even when I started to feel the strain of doing it. my laptop track pad and keypad have contributed to it as I don't hold my hands in a very good way when using the laptop.
I've tried a few taping techniques. I keep taking the tape off though as i hate when it starts to come loose (despite being waterproof, it isn't when it's on your hands). Maybe it would help if I could actually keep it on consistently for a number of days.
Anyone experienced this pain (it's more on the palm side of the base of my thumb near the wrist)?
If so, how did you deal with it?
I really wish I'd paid attention and changed my behaviour when I was first aware of the strain from stretching my thumbs across the screen of my phone. Warning to others who might be feeling it.... rest your thumbs and don't stretch like that!
edited to add that I just found some Spray Ice and my hands feel better for it. Hopefully regular application and a cutting back in phone use will help. I'm still interested to hear if others have experienced the same though

So what you're saying is that K440 is quite literally causing you physical pain at this point?
Does the LG have a feature like the iPhone 6's where you can double tap on the home key and it shrinks the screen to about 60% of its size so that it's more one-handed user friendly?

I've had RSI.
The only way to make it better is to quit what's causing it.
If you continue, you can look forward to steroid injections into the tendon tunnels and a painful day to day life - and that still won't make it go away.
I didn't quit and decided to tough it out - until it got so bad I literally couldn't use the hand, then I had to quit - no choice. There will be no choice, and it will stop you eventually.
20 years later and my left thumb still won't take pressure from certain angles without a flare-up or sometimes a total physical refusal - the thumb just can't take the strain I place on it when done in certain ways, even though that's what I'd consider a moderate amount of pressure.
Damage done.

I'm not a doctor or anything but to me it sounds like a case of wanker's cramp? That's not very modern.

I had it once and put it down to bad posture of my mouse hand as it rested on the edge of the table.

thanks guys.
yeah, I thought someone would mention wanking....
I'm thinking of digging out my Samsung S and hoping the battery works, it now seems almost the same size as a nokia in comparison to my LG.
I should have rested my thumbs earlier. It has definitely worsened and trying to not use them the same way is causing a knock on to my wrists and forearms. I gave in today and have made an appointment with a myotherapist (like a physio but a few people at work swear he's better, so I'll give him a try). hopefully i've caught it before reaching the stage you were at, C2U.
Not quite as good as the iphone 6 - I can change the keyboard to one handed keyboard size, but I really need everything shrunk! I will try at least using the keyboard at the reduced size, at it should help a little. Not sure how to reduce the mental pain that K440 causes me though.

If I use my QBZ97 bullpup too much I get RSI. It's not the most ergonomic of guns.
