I'm using Sportsdevil for the live footie - Sky block other routes. SALTS, like a few other apps require all sorts of subscriptions; I'm still working out what I can get for free and where they require payments. There's a few routes into the package of UK channels.Gin&Tonic wrote:Try:andyinasia wrote:I've bought that TV Box. Got the British channels, the live footie and gazillions more like a belly-dancing channel, dozens of bikini babe channels and others it'll take me months to find. Fantastic investment for $58.
SALTS (for Video on demand) https://seo-michael.co.uk/how-to-instal ... xbmc-kodi/
Sportsdevil (Live Sport) https://seo-michael.co.uk/how-to-manual ... l-on-xbmc/
DexterTV (UK and USA TV channels) https://seo-michael.co.uk/tutorial-how- ... -for-kodi/
I'm also buried under radio/audio options, trying to work out which stations meet my peculiar tastes. I like that I can watch early Pink Floyd vids on Youtube through the box rather than Chromecast as it takes a bit of pressure off the laptop.
One thing I can't do is install AirPinPCSender on my laptop or phone, so I can't download into my laptop and transfer to the TV Box.

Salts doesn't require any subscriptions however you can link it to a trakt.tv account (free) which can keep track of what you've watched.
Music is simple for me. I just use Google music.

If you run a Plex server you can then install plexbmc so kodi can act as a Plex client.
Or just make a network share, nfs and samba supported by kodi
Try yatse. An android remote for kodi. The paid version allows you to cast media.
Be advised, to keep sportsdevil running smoothly it will have to be manually updated regularly and update the librtmp which can be a little complicated and require root on some operating systems. You'll know when this needs to be done as links will stop working.

There have been a few reports on other forums that the Dexter server is behaving a little erratic when registering. Persistence. It's worth it.andyinasia wrote:I went through that guide you posted to set up dexter and it all worked a treat. Then I have to log in and it won't let me register. What email am i supposed to give???
At the moment that is. The iptv add-ons tend to only last for a few months before either
a) The programmers get bored and abandon the project
Or
B) it gets too popular so they make it a paid service and kill it.
Either way, a new add-on will take its place.
Ccloud (not as good as dexterTV yet) but perhaps in the future.

Relief to know it's not just me being a numpty then!
I came, I argued, I'm out
Great post, thanks.
I'd like to access Netflix (and maybe some UK specific services) directly from my non-internet TV (has HDMI and USB input). I had figured Roku might be best, but haven't been able to find out where to get one from, or what might be available through it in Cambodia.
I live in an building where the wifi internet is included (decent enough to use Netflix on a laptop), but I do have access to a router within my apartment. I've no idea which company provides the internet, but just to say that we can't change provider.
Any thoughts on any of the below would be great!
- any specific thoughts/ advice from people using media streaming services?
- where to buy the kit (cost?)
- what is available without any specific measures to 'get around' any limitations?
- what do you do to get around these limitations? What does that give you access to?
- what I might have to do to to set it up in a managed apartment building?
Thanks!

The best place to get roku is Amazon. They probably won't ship to Cambodia though. There are plenty of shipping forwarders around including one that I believe advertisers in this site and seems to offer good value.
Without using a workaround the number of channels on offer won't be good by any stretch of the imagination. Setting it up as a uk device will give loads of (mostly free) content.
Be wary about Netflix though if you intend to region swap. They have been implementing changes recently trying to stop the practice. Although they are losing the battle no one can predict the future.

If you can run Netflix on your laptop and your laptop and TV both have HDMI, then you're good to go without any additional equipment. Download the Netflix app on your phone to remote control your laptop.

For those using kodi a recent add-on from lambda (of genesis fame) is proving to be exceptional.
