Having trouble understanding.
Situation 1 is daughter , 2 years old , in mothers passport, also has a Canadian passport which we have not used before. We will be going through poipet to Bangkok in April, just for a couple of days, from siem reap.
Do we need any exit visa (if so from where?) Do we leave on the Canadian or mothers Khmer passport? Do we get a k visa on the way out or the way back? Needed as we hope to go to Canada in a few months , and I do not want to have to apply for a Canadian visa for her.
Situation 2 is similar, son, one year old, has his own Cambodian passport as well as Canadian passport , not in mothers passport. Going to Bangkok in July, boy has chronic illnesses, do we need an exit visa? If so from where and in which passport (presumably Canadian )? Do we get the k visa on the way in and the way out? As I mentioned he has serious health problems so I would like to minimize waiting time when he is present. This one is important as Cambodians only get 14 days in Thailand, Canadians get 30 days, and although we are going for five days, we have gotten jammed up with long hospital stays in the past.
Both children are Cambodian born, with Cambodian birth certificates listing the Cambodian mother and Canadian father. They also have Canadian registration of birth. Both parents will be travelling with them, both parents will be bringing their original birth certificates. Any other documents required?
Any help appreciated , I have trouble understanding these things.
Thank you

Go out of Cambodia with Cambodian passports and in to Thailand with Canadian passports. Go with airplane so they don't ask Cambodian exit stamp in Thailand passport control...?
Pardon my engrish, thanks you.
Here is exactly how we did ours for the girls. Go to lucky lucky with their passports,2 passport photos each, copies of both birth certs, copy of my passport and visa pages. Pay 50 usd each and they will put the exit visas in your kids passports(Canadian). Takes around 4 or 5 days. The exit visa will then need to be used within 2wks.
When you leave cambo, take your wifes and kids birth certs, your marriage cert or yellow family book, copies of your passport and visa pages, your wifes id card,2 photos each of the kids. Tell the immigration guy you want to make the k class visas for the kids and he will take it from there. We left the paperwork with him and he prepped everything for our return to cambodia. A little tea money to the guy and 15 minutes at the border and we had the visas. Do all that and you should get the k class visas easily.

That sounds overly complicated and expensive. Go to immigration with the passport and other documentation, get an exit visa for $25, takes about a day. Collect it, leave the country within a week, get the K visa stamp for free when you return (you'll have to show documentation again, all I had to show was a Cambodian birth cert.krisduncs wrote:Here is exactly how we did ours for the girls. Romantic Cambodia is dead and gone. It's with McKinley in the grave.
It may sound overly complicated, but that is what we had to do last week in order to obtain our childrens k class visas. When did you obtain yours LL? We also live in Kampot which meant it was much easier for us to have luckys sort the exit visa. They also told us that the law will change very soon,so any couples will be asked to go to an interview to make sure they really are the childrens parents, before any k class visa will be granted. Hope that helps Wat.
My daughter has US and Cambodian passports. She did not need an exit visa. The airport staff sees this all the time. Have your Khmer wife talk to them and explain which passport you want stamped, but show them both. I have experience coming and going between Cambodia and the United States as recently as last summer.
Thank you.
We live in Siem reap countryside, will not be in Phnom Penh, so do not have easy access to lucky lucky.
Our crossing next month is on foot at poipet. unless someone recommends against it, we will try to exit using the two year olds Canadian passport , or if the official has a problem with that the two year old will exit as part of her mothers Canadian passport. Then on the way back a week later we will see if we can get a k at the visa office at the border.
Ok plan, or poor plan?

Is it possible to leave on a passport that doesn't have a current visa?

Can not exit on foreign passport without exit visa! This thread has all the information you need, try reading it again. ..slowlywat wrote:Thank you.

That's what I was thinking too. The exit visa exists specifically to allow citizens with dual nationality to leave the country legally on foreign passports. On return, anyone who fits the requirements will receive a gratis K visa - for life. The exit visa is only a formality because everyone exiting the country requires a valid, up-to-date visa, even if you are a kid who just got an unmarked passport from abroad in the post. Maybe it's possible to leave on a different passport and then request a K visa at Poipet or something if you can show a birth cert, but I wouldn't go about it that way because it could be messy and you are with kids. Maybe someone else knows better.PSD_Kiwi wrote:Can you not read? Can not exit on foreign passport without exit visa!
