40k was what i had available at arrival on my current account the rest was still in blocked into the bank for a while until interest maturity (and in the portfolio) and was transferred later i didnt bring all my liquid capital here as of now, obviously bringing all you have here its not the safest move.
anyway the loan was a little bit less than laudjhon calculation, not that is wrong but the gen. didn't need a round number.

Great deal jack, and you have to ask advice here? Good luck with your paltry investments.
300k is very small money everywhere now, as you know, Sr. Rossi.
Relax and enjoy the interest.
It's only surprising that someone with good credit can't borrow this amount in the conventional economy.

yes i know it isnt very large. back home would be a very normal amount but above that it would be outside my confort zone for a loan in Cambodia.

Oddly enough, I met an Italian businessman for coffee yesterday morning, and did wonder to myself ...Miguelito wrote:Does anyone else, when you meet an Italian businessman here, wonder (just for a moment) "is this jackrossi"?
Meh. Something witty.
"We, the sons of John Company, have arrived"
Not long ago I was offered the "opportunity" by a good friend to loan money to a "three star General" with the projection it would return five times my money in the three months of the loan. I asked myself the following questions:
+ why does a general who has had every opportunity to scam and rape Cambodia like the rest of them need a loan ?
+ if it's so good, why is he offering the "opportunity" to white men and not his Brown brethren ?
+ why isn't the Bank lending ?
In the end...I used my own intuition and my father's lesson of " if it sounds too good to be true, out it usually is"
I declined.
That deal went south for everyone involved. Broken friendships etc....
Jack...why why why ?????
Ps : coming to 440 for advice on major financial advice.....really ???

If I had 300K, even if it were Zim $, a general in the Cambodian army or police force would be the last guy on the list of potential debtors.
Good luck with ever seeing it again, jackrossi.

All comes down to risk versus reward. All of us are different when it comes to how much risk we are willing to take.vladimir wrote:If I had 300K, even if it were Zim $, a general in the Cambodian army or police force would be the last guy on the list of potential debtors.

You can put it in the bank at 5-8% a year
Or trade in shares and get 10-30%+ a year
Or start a business here and get minus 100% to +100% a year
Or lend to 3 star generals etc and get 40-120% a year.
All these come with varying degrees of risk.
Personally I'd also be reluctant to lend to potentially powerful people.
30℅ a year on shares?
