Clearly an ironic statement regarding the Phnom Penh expat scene of yore.

Expats in Cambodia love to get all upset about stories like this one, or as another example, the naked tourists at Angkor Wat. The amount of ire that these relatively tame incidents draw is pretty ironic, considering the truly bad but run-of-the-mill behavior exhibited by typical Western expats, and typical K440 posters. But please, continue to treat this country like a playground while criticisizing this "gay, hipster wanker". Still not sure why it's even relevant that the guy is gay, but you all seem to think it is apparently.

Who's upset? Who's treating the country like a playground? You're not making a lot of sense there.Expats in Cambodia love to get all upset about stories like this one, or as another example, the naked tourists at Angkor Wat. Romantic Cambodia is dead and gone. It's with McKinley in the grave.
It's just 21st century human nature, Daily Mail/YouTube comment section at its finest.kheng.info wrote:Expats in Cambodia love to get all upset about stories like this one, or as another example, the naked tourists at Angkor Wat. A gorgeous model is ugly as fuck
An ugly chick is stunning
Anyone successful has rich/successful parents, or they've slept their way to the top
People who are happy, successful, and content in life don't hate on others. Some who are none of those things still don't hate because it's plain to see what is happening.
A few are just trolls on the wind up.
The rest...

This is the first "story like this" here that I've noticed where the interest has not been in the incident itself and disrespectful behavior of some tourists but in the self-obsessed tone of his defense/telling of the incident (which in itself was an attempt at adressing his self-obsession.) I thought the OP's take was rather a fresh one compared to threads about loutish tourist girls baring their asses at Khmer religious monuments. Maybe missing the point of the OP is why you also don't understand the relevance of him being a "hipster." I think even he probably would have understood.kheng.info wrote:Expats in Cambodia love to get all upset about stories like this one, or as another example, the naked tourists at Angkor Wat...
