Immigration want me to go for interview tomorrow (visa extension related)
Immigration want me to go for interview tomorrow (visa extension related)
So I did a visa extension my passport was full but I had quite a lot of visa come out naturally as they use some really cheap glue for visas here over last couple years. Anyway I didn't think it would be a big issue and they would just put a visa over where one had come out but obviously I was wrong. I gave my passport to a agency to do a visa extension for me 6 months. I had a call to the agency today, so I went in and they said immigration want to speak to me I need to go opposite airport tomorrow in PP,
Just wanted some advice about what could possibly happen, I got a visa when I arrived from the airport that was techincally the only page without anything on and they put it on that one, I know officialy you have to have no pages with anything on to extend. I thought as it's Cambodia it wouldn't be a problem and the agency checked my passport and didn't say anything. I got about 5 old cambodian visa which have come out so like 5 pages with just a tiny faint stamp on page,
So yeah just wondering what to expect if anyone else has had to be interviewed before? Do you think they could still do the visa extension for me if I pay a little bit of tip money to the officer or could they force me to leave? my visa was due to expire today. and the agency said they won't send my passport back from embassy till i go to interview.

If I understand it correctly, you have no pages left in your passport except for the five which the visa and fallen out. It sounds like they want to talk to you about:
1) you having no space left, so no room for a new visa, and / or
2) how come five visas fell out.
A visa fell out of my passport once - or rather came loose. They stopped me at immigration leaving the country, but luckily I was able to find it in my bag. They implied I had removed it purposefully until I pointed out the dried glue. Since then I add a staple to the visa now, just in case.
I can't forecast what will happen; i suspect it will be tricky though because if you have no room for a visa they can't issue you with one. They certainly can't use the previously used pages.

Okay thanks, yeah I guess I'm just a bit nervous as I'm in Snooky at moment so got to make a 4 hour trip there and don't want to end up not being allowed back or detained or something like that. When I arrived I had all the visas missing and they didn't ask any questions and gave me a new one and I know like said technically it has to be a full new page I thought they may just do it (stupid risk to take I know now) as it's just a small tiny marking on the 5 pages from the old visas like all you can see is omething like capt dsd really faded on 5 of the pages.alanclarke72 wrote:If I understand it correctly, you have no pages left in your passport except for the five which the visa and fallen out. They should really use some proper glue or something with the visas here, every other country I've been issued with have been fine just Cambodian ones have come.
Well if they just say we can't extend and give me my passport back that's okay I can live with that and just go back and make a new one. I just don't want to have any big sort of problems...I guess I can always call my embassy if they start being really funny.
Yea, I always staple my visas onto the page as soon as they start becoming loose. Even if the visa falls out there will be part of the stamp on that page, and most immigration officers won't place a new visa onto a stamped page as per SOP's.
Let us know how you get on

I'm not a negative person, I encourage people all the time...it's usually to f**k off! But, whatever.
You can expect that someone will want to help your problem......so bring some extra cash.

boy did u fuck up, u are NOT allowed to remove stamps /visas from a passport and if it was a US passport it would be cause to revoke it.
If i were you, i would go get a new passport.
I had a Cambodian stamp "fall out" years ago, no one would ever place a visa or stamp on that page. I assume u have the old glue ( which shows a visa was there) an part of the red stamp showing

You are not allowed to alter a passport in any way.
Maybe, but it's your onus to keep your passport and whatever is in it in good condition. I've had a couple of those visas fall out over the years, unlike your idiotic solution I glued them back in. I keep my passport in a ziplock pouch anyway, in case it gets wet or damaged by humidity. They should really use some proper glue or something with the visas here, every other country I've been issued with have been fine just Cambodian ones have come.
Well he needs to anyway if he has no space in it. He's still going to need to explain those missing visas and any inconsistencies between entry and exit stamps will be pounced on. I don't imagine the immigration HQ looking into this will be too pleased. Besides the fact that it's illegal, you are fucking around with their bureaucracy which is pretty much how they operate. Let's hope you don't end up in the hotel in the rear of the immigration compound, it's none too pleasant. If i were you, i would go get a new passport.

I enter/depart Cambodia about 5 times a year on tourist visas for stays under a month, and I've had more than my fair share of Cambodian visa stickers filling up my passports, making me look like a pervert. I've never had one "fall out." I don't think I've even had one start to peel off. I don't take particularly good care of my passports, they end up all weathered and battered after 5-10 years. But no visa stickers from Cambodia have "fallen out."
I believe that they will suspect you have deliberately removed the pages in order to: (a) save the time and expense of renewing your passport, or (b) deceive Cambodian authorities or possibly other countries about your travel history and where you have been living and what you have been up to. They may also see all your missing visas as an attempt to avoid work permit back fees.
I think you should be polite and apologetic, don't blame their glue, try to explain why stickers keeping falling out of your passport but not others, and bring a toothbrush and daybag in case your visa isn't renewed and/or you are tossed in immigration lockup for a while.

Good advice, just be polite and apologetic and don't mention bad glue or anything. Don't offer anyone any money whatever you do. You might be asked for that later, who knows, but you will risk offending someone if you mention it too quick.
I don't know if this is the greatest idea, and it would depend on the condition of your passport and whether the exits/entries etc match up, from what I can tell you have just been in and out on tourist visas a few times? If, for example, there are stamps showing you crossed to Aranyaprathet at a certain date and it doesn't match what is remaining on your mutilated Cambodian visa scene, this will need explanation.
However, if it's possible, you should just make up some ridiculous cover story. A monkey stole your passport while you were lunching out on Koh Rong and when you got it back it had eaten all your Cambodian visas. Mention how maybe it didn't eat the Thai or Viet visas because they aren't so delicious, that will get you points. Tell them you were shacking up with some crazy barang chick who vandalized your passport just because you wouldn't buy her a pina colada or whatever.
Just make sure your story is a bit more tangent than the incomprehensible BS you've been spinning on here. Good luck and keep us informed.

You could claim that you dropped your passport in a river, or left it in your jeans and put them in the washing machine. That could explain stickers falling out, but they might know it's bullshit if there's no other obvious water damage to your passport.

I had a visa come unstuck once before. IIRC one of the visa agents noticed it and stapled it back on for me.

Shit! Maybe the OP will get deported for this, like the plot in the tale of Eric Erdman(n)
Ok thanks for some of the advice and for the people accusing me of passport tampering - I've never removed any visas or peeled any off. My passport was issued in 2007. It's pretty battered sure but I have ones from the middle east back in 2008 still in and like said all other countries still in just about 4 or 5 of the cambodian ones came out naturally out of about the 16 Cambodian ones I have in my passport I used to come just for a couple weeks go back work like this so have lots of Cambodian ones. 2 of the ones which fell out are sitting in my place in KL I was stupid not to put them in but yes I guess a part of me thought oh well I can just use these for other stamps when needed if required the others but yes in hindsight this was a retarded thing to do.
And maybe some of you guys quick to jump on my throat about deliberately removing them haven;t been to many other places than Cambodia because the quality in glue is definitely cheap shit compared to what other places that use stickers like vietnam, indonesia, Saudi, Oman etc. use. I've only started going to Cambodia in the last 3 years and I have ones from 8 years back still firmly in and no sign of coming loose. Sure I should have put them back in but seriously they use cheap shit compared to the ROW. Go to other countries and see for yourself.

I agree about the quality of the glue used....it is shit, most of my visas from Cambodia have come unstuck, which is why I staple them in place before they fall out.
