translator needed khmer documents

I'm applying for a schengenvisa for my girlfriend, so I need some khmer documents translated in English. Family book, birthcertification, sales agreement, 4 land ownercertificates. I got a pricequote of 165$ from pyramid!!''' that's alot.

so who knows a translator that have experience with translating documents

Pyramid are expensive but recommended by various embassies so presumably do a good job. Getting a cheap Khminglish style translation will probably backfire when the embassy reject your documents or refuse the visa. You can get cheapo translations in many of the print shops on street 110/118 - e.g. sub $20 for a 4 page lease agreement but they are crap.

OP, Schengen embassies won't just accept any translation, they only recognize certain translations. MoF and Pyramid are recognized for instance. Before you spend money on another translation check with the embassy whether they will accept it. My guess, based on experience with the German embassy, is that you'll have to spend your money @ Pyramid. The German embassy do not accept 'informal' translations and I can imagine other Schengen embassies will have the same policy. Both birth certificate and family book can also be translated at the MoF, it might be cheaper. Let your GF check it out.

You might also want to check with the embassy if offering four (instead of for instance the most important, or two) owner certificates really makes a difference to them. Family book and birth certificate are inevitable.

About the documents you want to use for proof: I believe you can throw away the contract for the purchase of the combine. First of all anyone can make up a contract like this (the signature of a village chief will not be recognized by the embassy), and she also might already have sold it without tearing the contract to pieces, so I think the embassy will not consider it solid proof. Maybe add a picture of the land with the combine on it to the land title instead of the contract? I would not waste my money on translating that one but on real evidence like land titles, house ownership, a good job to return to, having a child in Cambodia, stuff like that. Also the ownership of a motorbike is not going to help. The embassy will not believe someone will return because a motorbike, worth a few hundred USD, is waiting for her. When you prepare your documents do not forget your GF has to convince the embassy, and the embassy will, based on experience, not trust her unless she has solid documented proof. Do not forget to add an invitation letter, written and signed by you, together with (a signed copy of) your passport. That will at least proof someone is actually inviting her.

Applying for an Aus visa they said the translator needed to be accredited with the cambodian govt. I used thla translation - http://www.thlatranslation.com/ and was very impressed. Cheap as well, less than a third of what Pyramid wanted to charge.

I understand what u mean kachang, this makes it also really difficult to proof she really go back Cambodia, it's easy to make false contracts, it's even possible to copy land ownetships. But we hope our complete story and the documents is enough to convince the embassy, she return to Cambodia. We allready have a invitation letter from the netherlands ( official, signed by the government).
Maybe it's a good idea to print a picture of the ricemachine on her land and with her store/house. But also this is offcourse totally no proof, because the land, house, machine can be from everyone.

I understand a schengenvisa is value fir 3 months, but the embassy write down the dates on the visa when she planned to visit and leave the schengenarea. I think they never give a full 3 month visa, because which khmer goes 3 months holiday. We thinking about a 2 months stay

I think, IF somebody has the attention to not return bback to Cambodia, they shall choose for 2-3 weeks stay in the schengenvisa, in the hope they get easier a visa. 2 months is not the most easy way to get a visa, if the applicant not wanna turn back.

But this is my way of thinking, and 2 months is also the time we wanna spend

A Schengen tourist visa is single entry, max 90 days out of 180 days. This means out of 180 consecutive days she can not spend more than 90 days in the Schengen area. Extensions are not possible. I'm not sure what they will allow and what they won't. I just remember the first time my GF applied they were extremely difficult about everything, even the size and the color of the background of the photo attached was wrong according to them. The first few times my GF always applied for short stays. Think 2-4 weeks. A friend of mine back home applied for a full three months for her BF (OK, not Cambodia, but an African country) and (of course) the visa was denied - complaints at MoF were politely declined. No one at the embassy believes in 90 days holidays for people coming from the poorest countries. If I were you I'd let her apply for a month, max., to increase the chance of success. But then again, ask the embassy. Most embassies have some kind of e-mail contact through their website. If you mail them upfront, at least they will know your name, maybe it helps.

Once there's a used visa in the passport, and it has been used according to the rules, the embassy will loosen up a bit, and after several used visa they might actually become helpful and start suggesting multiple entry visa to save them the paperwork of lots of applications. Currently my GF has a two year multi entry visa - which means we do not have to go to the embassy for two years.

Both the entry date and the date she'll leave will be printed on the single entry visa, based on the flight details you will provide them with. Usually they will allow a few more days at the end of the stay of the visa to cover delayed return flights. This means if you show them an itinerary (instead of a full booking) and want to make a (different) booking later you might be in trouble if the dates change. On the other hand if you book flights and pay for it and the visa is denied you'll lose money, esp. if you buy the cheapest tickets with tight conditions.

Most important is your GF has to prove she has a life in Cambodia outside of you, where she can take care of herself. If this is the case the chances of her actually coming back are much bigger, and they will be more willing to give her the visa. Things like a long history of serious money in the bank (instead of a large sum of money deposited a month before the application) will help tremendously. If you plan to go for let's say two months the embassy will most probably want at least 6000 $ in her current account, since they will reckon a day in Europe, for a tourist, will cost at least 100 $. I think land titles will be taken seriously by the embassy, because in order to give out a new one the old one has to be destroyed - also selling land from abroad isn't as easy as selling (for instance) a motorbike or a combine.

Yeah, we must consider about how many days she stay in the schengenarea, also because this is her first time at the embassy. I contaft the embassy about some questions, but they informed that they can'. Decide about that kind of things, only at the application a
ppointment. So we shall see, o gonna make 1 picture with the ricemachine on her land with my girlfriend holding her passport in hDr hand. The land has a wall around and is in a L. So it's easy to see in the picture in compare with the landownership that that her land, house and machine, and recent taken because of the fate of issue

Imho you're wasting your time with that picture. They will only consider official documents.

You'll have to prove convincingly she's not intending to stay in Netherlands. As you'll find out a return itinerary or your good word have about zero value.

The value of the properties might help if it's substantial rather than rice fields in the middle of nowhere. Of course it must be in her own name and not other family members. That is also no guarantee, so good luck.
