Or people willing to withhold them for same.scobienz wrote:I don't know what's sadder. The fact that someone is attempting to buy passports / visa or the fact that someone is prepared to sell their's for a pittance.
A guy will buy your passport for $100, or Cambodian visa sticker for $50

ירי ילדים והפצצת אזרחים דורש אומץ, כמו גם הטרדה מינית של עובדי ההוראה.
The whole system is computerised, so counterfeit visas would be immediately flagged entering/exiting through immigration.tuk-tukfish wrote:It's always struck me as strange that, in a region famous for fraudulent, er, EVERYTHING why no one has thought to counterfeit visa's before. As sad as it is true there's a huge market of washed-up degenerates needing this service. The cambodian Visa ain't exactly hard to replicate and the staff at customs is useless.
I'm not a negative person, I encourage people all the time...it's usually to f**k off! But, whatever.

Back in the day...Cambodian visas were ink stamps, not the current format (paper + adhesive, with debatably inferior glue). And ink stamps could be made to order, directly from shops, or ordered from stalls on/around Monivong. A bit risky, treading on toes of those whose income stream this would be disrupting... .... but it was tried (NOT by me) and a service was offered (NOT by me either) on the hush-hush.tuk-tukfish wrote:It's always struck me as strange that, in a region famous for fraudulent, er, EVERYTHING why no one has thought to counterfeit visa's before. You're not wrong about the adhesive - it's officially the worst in ASEAN according to my little study.Stagger Lee wrote:Back in the day...Cambodian visas were ink stamps, not the current format (paper + adhesive, with debatably inferior glue). Leafing through an old passport, the full pagers from Vietnam, Laos and Myanmar were all hanging in there. The Cambodian ones were peeling off worse than the livery on a North Korean missile.

A person wouldn't necessarily have to sell *their own* passport.scobienz wrote:I don't know what's sadder. The fact that someone is attempting to buy passports / visa or the fact that someone is prepared to sell their's for a pittance.
(e.g. Wasn't there a couple - Portuguese perhaps ?? - recently who had stolen a fellow packer's passport ??
Also, a hundred bucks could offer a quick fix (so to speak) to those with urgent cashflow problems.)
My passport was soaked in Thailand at songkran in the 90's (at the time I was revelling in amazeballsness of it. Yeah, backpacking man!) but it really messed up my traveling at borders because the thing started to peal apart!
Took a bit of convincing.
Anyhoo, here's a picture of an intellectual monkey contemplating life, as an intellectual monkey. Must be tuff.
