Go to any Maybank ATM. It does not charge any fees on top of what your own bank might charge of course.bernie wrote:So is it correct that instead of using a Canadia ATM, I can go inside the branch with my Mastercard, and withdraw $500 and there are no fees from Canadia?
I understand there might be a fee from my bank.
ATM fees
Thank you Aem.
Someone had mentioned there are no fees only with Visa. It is good news indeed if the also works wth Mastercard!

Oh. I am using VISA. I did not read about you using Mastercard. I have no clue whether they do not charge fees for Mastercard or not. Please try and check it yourself.bernie wrote:Thank you Aem.

... yes, 4 dollars per 400 (Canadia) is not so bad, but for those smaller amounts, $4 adds up. I found Maybank does not charge a WD fee.
The problem with the world is stupidity. I'm not saying there should be a capital punishment for stupidity, but why don't we just take the safety labels off of everything and let the problem solve itself?

I also was unexpectedly not charged a withdrawal fee at Maybank with a Canadian visa/debit. The other piece of info I'd like to add that I like about Maybank is that I took out $1000 USD. I care as I do still get charged $5 per from my Canadian bank. Unfortunately I don't get a breakdown online so I don't know exactly percentage of exchange etc but it *seemed* alright. I'll check when I get home as we're only here for 6 weeks this time. Last thing, I'm only taking out by atm because I misjudged by quite a bit how much all our expenses were going to cost which I won't get into, but we opened an account here for a relatively significant transfer in USD to an acelera account and the fee on the alceleda/standard charter end was $50!
Go to atm.
Withdraw 400$ with 4$ charge (1%).
Go to market, change 100$ to 406.000 riel (or more), 1,5% back as long as you spend this money that counts 4000riel-1$.
I allways take 395/495 so that i have 10s for when i go to supermarkets that usually count the dollar lower.

Cathay United bank ATM is $6 for a $1000 withdrawal, for Master cards only as far as I know. This is the cheapest for master card users AFAIK.

That looks as good as it gets with mastercard. (Maybank won't take master card) Where are these ATMs? I haven't seen any.venuslary wrote:Cathay United bank ATM is $6 for a $1000 withdrawal, for Master cards only as far as I know. This is the cheapest for master card users AFAIK.
You need to be careful with mastercard mo fu*kers! I wasn't paying attention and got confused about taking money from home currency vs whatever the other option is and they charged me $15 for $1000.
Then, to add insult to injury there was a message in capital letters on the receipt saying they could charge whatever rate they wanted and I had no recourse and basically "eat it."
You're the king, making money by changing it. Somehow I always lose some when doing that.Albro wrote:Go to atm.

I don't get why people are still recommending banks that charge $4 and $6, when several people have already pointed out that Maybank is the only bank in PP that has no charges at all. This applies to MasterCard, Visa and ordinary debit cards.
You can also withdraw at least $2000 one time if you like, which reduces the "overseas ATM use" fee from your own overseas bank compared to, say, 4 withdrawals of $500.

I have the debit Mastercard issued from Russia. Ussualy I have no problem with withdrowing cash from any atm in asia. But today my request for 420$ from Maybank in Phnom Penn was rejected. Are there anyone who had sucessful withdrowal from Mastercard from Maybank? What was an amount (maybe they have any limitation for mastercard)? What else can be a problem in my case?
