Where are Kramas made in Cambodia - anyone have any contact information - addresses - phone numbers - vague directions - etc? I have heard that there are factories around Phnom Penh and in both Kampong Cham and Takeo - but where?
Interested in pretty much anything from the apparently factory produced small, brightly coloured, 100% synthetic krama to the various-sized 100% cotton versions. Also interested in making contact with any cottage-industry makers of Krama - if such things still exist in any form.
Any info - broad or specific - would be appreciated.
Cheers

Thanks - yes - I know about the wholesalers/retailers in Central, Russian and Olympic markets and have been buying Kramas in quantity off them now for the past seven years. Really now looking for the actual makers/manufacturers of the Kramas. When I have made enquiries about this from the wholesalers I deal with, they have been - probably understandably - a bit vague about their supply source.

Maybe contact Artisans' Association of Cambodia

Also worth dropping into the shop directly opposite The Rising Sun, some really nice examples of Kramas from different regions of Cambodia. They do wholesale as well.

Thanks for the tip LaudJohn - yes it looks interesting and led me to the following:
''Chroy Ampil villagers, Kbarl Koh commune and Pok Resey villagers in Kandal Province earn a living by weaving and spinning thread of Khmer scarf for a very long time. The skills required for this production are transferred within families from generation to generation.
Number of weavers: Production is mostly in Kien Svay and Ksarch Kandal Commune. In Kien Svay there are 85 families who are weaving and spinning thread of Khmer scarf. They have 397 semi-automatic processes looms.'' (http://www.cambodiaadvisor.com/cambodia ... -inest.htm)
Even if this is a fair bit of tourist hype, looks like it will be worth making the trip out there.
Cheers
