Do Cambodian kids need their own passport?
as above or can they still have their photos placed on Moms passport? ( kids age 4 and 6)
any idea costs
Also if the dad is out of the country, can the mom do everything with a signed paper from the dad?

Kids can still be added to their mothers old style passports, but not the new ones, kids have to get their own.
Under 12 valid for 5 years, $110 for one month processing.
As long as all the required documents are submitted, I see know reason why both parents would need to be present at the pp department for the application process.

But in reference to kids getting their own> they dont need Anything from the parents at all?
Thailand and US, both parents need be there till they are (under 15 for thai and from 15-20 need both parents authorization letter, under 16 for usa) and if both cant, one can submit a notarized authorization letter.

Spigzy Jnr has his own Cambo passport, I didn't need to be present, his mum did it all. Turned around very quick for a few $ more; puts the shambolic first UK passport to shame... 18 weeks minimum, absolute farce.

What's the point in your kid having a Cambodian passport? Is it just for traveling to ASEAN countries where they can qualify for a visa-waiver for 15-30 days? My kid used to be on his mom's passport, now he just has an EU passport with a K-visa, I can't see much point in getting him a Cambodian passport.

Just spoke with a friend who recently got their kid his pp, his wife and kid went to the PP office without her husband, took kids birth cert, family book and her ID card...no requirement for the father to be present.Phuket2006 wrote:Thanks

If you had dual citizenship would you not want to have passports from both countries?Lucky Lucan wrote:What's the point in your kid having a Cambodian passport? Aside from the ease of travel to ASEAN countries, having a passport can only be a good thing in a country that still relies heavily on hard copies of everything due to a lack of computerised systems for record keeping.

There's a requirement to get parts of some PP applications signed with a witness (accountant, lawyer, doctor, etc...), which is of course completely fool-proof.PSD_Kiwi wrote:Just spoke with a friend who recently got their kid his pp, his wife and kid went to the PP office without her husband, took kids birth cert, family book and her ID card...no requirement for the father to be present.Phuket2006 wrote:Thanks

Some countries, I believe the USA is one, require you to have documents to prove that a child traveling without both parents is not being abducted/ trafficked etc.

I don't think so. At least I've never been asked to provide any documents. A friend did recently get stranded in Qatar with her kid but I think that was airline regulations rather than a US requirement.Lucky Lucan wrote:There's a requirement to get parts of some PP applications signed with a witness (accountant, lawyer, doctor, etc...), which is of course completely fool-proof.PSD_Kiwi wrote:Just spoke with a friend who recently got their kid his pp, his wife and kid went to the PP office without her husband, took kids birth cert, family book and her ID card...no requirement for the father to be present.Phuket2006 wrote:Thanks

seems like it makes it easy for human trafficking if only mom needs be there.
thats the reason us and thailand want both parents there or at least a letter.
I hvae heard in thailand that many have posted on tv, that they needed a letter if they were traveling with their kid and mom wasn't there. I never had any problem traveling alone with my daughter when she was young.
Thanks all
PS having dual passports is always a HUGE +
