Three injured in grenade attack on Street 163
I know.. I know. Your post was obviously a joke.. as were some others. And for the record, you are probably one of the posters I respect the most on here. LTO most of the time too actually. But still, it's obvious in threads like this how many of the regular posters on here are out and out racists. Many of them convinced of course that they are not. And as the shit stirrer I am, it is of course, as usual I who am the one to do the party pooping.. or should I say the party crasher of poop on the Khmer party?starkmonster wrote:Chill, I was taking the piss. Look at the video. What some of you guys are saying fits the exact definition of racism.
the belief that all members of each race possess characteristics or abilities specific to that race, especially so as to distinguish it as inferior or superior to another race or races.
prejudice, discrimination, or antagonism directed against someone of a different race based on the belief that one's own race is superior.
Also the key word in your definition is ALL, you will notice that I was merely playing with probabilities and left open the possibility that it was the later and that a middle age Khmer woman, a clothes stall owner at O'Russei market and an Indian university teacher were the intended targets of this crack team of assassins.
Alcohol is necessary so that a man can have a good opinion of himself, undisturbed by the facts
And btw, what you were posting and what LPB posts most of the time is completely different to what is often posted by others. Even someone with a basic understanding of the English language like me can differentiate between jokes and what can only be described as condescending posts at best..

I don't think anyone is saying it's not possible except by some crack ex-SAS barhugging barang, but that if it was targeted, it would take someone with experience around grenades to ensure success. If it was targeted, is sure seems sloppy, given it would be much simpler to pull up beside a stationary vehicle at the red light ~300m north, drop a grenade and drive off.doktor_d wrote:Regardless of how impossible it may seem to the average round-eye racist, that a Khmer could actually pull the safety pin on a hand grenade - then open his hand to let the grenade fall out of it - thereby releasing the "spoon" and activating the timer while approaching a car - this seems to be exactly what happened. How about that?
And it wasn't perfectly timed or placed. So it's not the unbelievable accomplishment some of you try to make it out to be. It was just someone dropping a grenade while approaching a car. It exploded at least a meter to the left of the car + about a half a second before it should have if they were going for maximum damage.
Here's a clearer videodoktor_d wrote:It's what happened. Look at the video. What some of you guys are saying fits the exact definition of racism.LTO wrote:Sounds like unreflective bs.doktor_d wrote:How about that?

Guy chucks grenade, two bikes swerve out of the way, car comes along, boom.
If it was a targeted attack, and if that lexus was the target - and not one of the motorcyclists driving by at the time, and if the perps knew that that exact white lexus was the target, and could identify it from a distance at night.. there's a whole lot left to chance by the method of delivery.
Aii teacher Dhamendra Singh Kshetrimayum, 35, incorrectly identified as female by the post, Chan Vanny, 37, also a teacher (also Aii?), and Ming Hov, 38, a vendor at O’Russey. Are any of them worthy of a grenade attack?

This impresses me as just stupid. So stupid and contrary to what's been said that I wonder whether your just taking the piss. Nobody has suggested that Khmers can't pull a pin and drop a grenade. In fact my first post in this thread was to note that it used to be a common practice here. Are you being sarcastic and it's just going over my head?doktor_d wrote:I know.. I know. White westerners are no longer entitled to opinions unless they are of course in line with current thought, which requires we all be racist trolls.

Bit of a gay grenade if you ask me.
That Lexus driving past didn't look like it had a scratch on it.
Now I've seen enough Jean Claude Van Damme films to know that vehicles normally catapult arse over tit and explode in a ball of flames when you chuck a grenade at them.
Are we even sure it was a grenade?
I put it to you that a guy on his way home from a beer garden dropped his can of Angkor and it was so fizzy that it blew up.
That seems much more plausible to me.
Gotta be careful with a can of fizzy beer. Take someone's eye out.

So where was their intended target, Mr. Lyhour? They say he is a resident of Street 163, but he is not listed among the injured, and there in no mention of him being the guy in the SUV. So where is he in all this? Did they miss? Did they drop the grenade by accident? Did it happen in front of his house? Was he in some other passing vehicle?PSD_Kiwi wrote:http://m.phnompenhpost.com/national/eig ... ign=buffer
Not that it really matters in the Cambodian judicial system.Despite there being no deaths in the grenade attack, Kimly, Nou Samban, Sak Mab, Bun Pheakdey and his wife, Bou Sopheap, were charged on Saturday with premeditated murder, with officials declining to discuss reasons for the charge.

to a targeted attack against the Vietnamese man in the carNational Police spokesman Kirth Chantharith said the blast that injured at least three people on Street 163 was the work of “anarchists” who “intended to cause social turmoil."
“It was not terrorism, but…we think a group of people intended to cause trouble,” he said. “It was done by a political group.”
Lieutenant General Chantharith declined to say which political organization he believed was behind the explosion but said the conclusion was based on solid police work.
However, Interior Ministry spokesman Khieu Sopheak on Wednesday told the online Fresh News service that police arrested five people on Wednesday and on Tuesday, saying the suspected motive was “a love-affair dispute with the Vietnamese victim.”
and then to some other bloke who runs a moto accessory shop, who was uninjured (and perhaps not on the street at all at the time of the attack)However, Interior Ministry spokesman Khieu Sopheak on Wednesday told the online Fresh News service that police arrested five people on Wednesday and on Tuesday, saying the suspected motive was “a love-affair dispute with the Vietnamese victim.”
...
Asked whether police had changed their mind about the “political group” theory, National Police spokesman Saran Komsath equivocated.
“You should know that in any case that occurs, we have to make an initial conclusion, and our conclusions may not be 100 percent accurate,” he said.
and of course the police spokesman who was quoted as saying “It was done by a political group," denied ever saying anything about a political motiveAfter originally stating that the intended target was a Vietnamese man who had been wounded by the explosion, officials on Friday said it was in fact a man named Ea Lyhour, who owns a motorbike accessory store just meters from the blast site, but was not injured.
So the perps were pretty useless anyway. Dropping a grenade outside the shop were the target lived doesn't equal l33t hitman skills.National Police spokesman Kirth Chantharith initially said the blast was the work of a “political group” that “intended to cause social turmoil” and claimed officials were searching for two men who passed on motorbikes seconds before the explosion.
On Friday, however, he denied ever having made the suggestion.
“I said maybe there were other problems, but I did not categorically state that it was political,” he said.
The moto supplies store is Rhino Motorsport who sell real leathers, gloves, boots and helmets
