Where to buy: heart rate monitor
Where to buy: heart rate monitor
Any one has a clue? Looking for a "stand alone" model, no need to attach to a machine. Want to use it during some outside sports.
Not sure what "stand alone" means but I'm assuming you mean a watch that reads your HR?
OK. Firstly they do exist but are not as reliable as watch + strap.
Secondly I doubt you can find them in KOW.
Why not just not bother, do drugs and lose weight?

Some heart rate monitors are basically just straps with a battery and a sensor, communicating with some workout machine using some (unknown) wireless protocol. Without the machine these are pretty useless. At least out in the bush where I like to use one.
Some are just similar straps using Bluetooth to communicate with a cellphone - that could potentially be fine. Some are watches, some are watches with a strap attached to either the arm of the chest, and so on....
I am looking for a HR monitor I can use in the forest behind my house. That's what I called 'stand alone'.
Maybe someone else has an idea if these are available in KOW. If not, I will check out Bangkok later.

I have seen this at my go-to pharmacy :http://www.aandd.jp/products/medical/me ... l#personal
but I don't think that's what you're looking for.
Maybe something like this:
or a Fitbit: either of which you'll probably need to order.
Lots of different types out there.

Then why say "stand alone" and not just "I want a HRM watch"!Kachang wrote:I know these exist. Otherwise i wouldn't ask, would I?YaTingPom wrote:Not sure what "stand alone" means but I'm assuming you mean a watch that reads your HR?

Who says I need a watch? I don't care what kind of device it is, as long as I can use it outdoors. Some HTM's come with an app for your smartphone and use Bluetooth, meaning you only need the strap with the battery, sensor and Bluetooth chip - and god knows what other devices can be found.
To the others: thanks, I will check facebook and will take a look at some local pharmacies in PP too.
