S.O.S/Raffles Clinic Intentionally Injected...
So most of you know that my missus got her visa to TrumpLand. Part of getting the visa was going to the US Embassy approved medical clinic and getting any needed vaccinations. In her case, a Tetanus full round ( not just a booster) and a MMR 1 shot. So she came from her first round of shots and said that the front desk women were pretty rude when she was trying to schedule her next tetanus shot. Whatever, not what I am here to disclose.
What I am here to disclose is that when my wife went back in for her final Tetanus shot, the Khmer doctor, without my wife's permission or knowledge, injected her with a flu vaccine. My wife only noticed when she went to pay the bill and they charged her for this flu vaccine. FYI- Flu vaccine IS NOT require by the US Embassy and the entire time it was well understood by both doctor and my wife that she was to have a full Tetanus and 1 MMR shot. At first I was like, okay, fuck it, not a big deal. But thinking about it a bit more, it really chaps my ass gentlemen. I don't think vaccine injections is the fucking place to be trying to pad the patient's bill by slipping in a flu vaccine.
Just venting. A big fuck you to everyone who works at S.O.S. would make me feel better, but nothing will happen as they don't give a shit. Just a heads up for anyone else that must go there. Don't let the Khmer doctor there inject your loved one with some shit you don't need/ask for/know about like they did to Pea.
Edit- FYI- You have the right to refuse all vaccines for any US Visa, however, it will be noted on your application for your interview and well,.... the consular officer has full power over your situation and pretty sure a big red flag hangs if you refuse.

Shady business practices aside, performing elective medical procedures on people without their knowledge or consent is medically unethical behavior.
I know it is easy for me to say sitting here, but did you consider refusing paying for it? Did you speak to the clinic director?

I wasn't there for this. I am glad. I am a hot head and I would have went ape shit. Not about the cash or bill padding, but the obvious injection of unwanted shite. Ethics. None. This is the place that the US Embassy requires Cambodians to go. As we have not crossed into the US on her visa yet, I don't want to contact the embassy about this and probably never will. Maybe once we are safely settle in stateside. To me, this was a big fucking deal and of we were in any western country, I'd have already been speaking to a lawyer about Mal practice.LTO wrote:Shady business practices aside, performing elective medical procedures on people without their knowledge or consent is medically unethical behavior.

This happened like a month back. Just thought I'd share for anyone else who has to go here. I am actually getting pretty pissed off thinking about it more. I just emailed their information email address asking for their director's email.
What can I do if we are leaving? Should I report this to the US Embassy? This is the only clinic they allow.

Speak to SOS direct but you probably find this sanctioned. It's how they make their money after all.

When I got my yellow fever shot at the Thai Red Cross clinic in Bangkok the doctor did try (not very hard) to upsell me to a flu vaccine. I politely declined, and that was that.

Now, let me play the role of asshole for just a moment. You say that "the Khmer doctor, without my wife's permission or knowledge, injected her with a flu vaccine."
Didn't she notice the second needle and second injection? I mean, if I went for an injection, and then they gave me an injection, and then the doctor pulled out a second needle, I'd say "Whoa, what the fuck is that?"

We don't need that anymore....
Romantic Cambodia is dead and gone. It's with McKinley in the grave.
That's totally unethical and strengthens the case against Khmer doctors.
They should hire nkotb's wife to set them straight

Wrong. I'd be ranting and raving. Which I do lots on this forum. She'd just meekly submit and say nothing.logos wrote:That's totally unethical and strengthens the case against Khmer doctors.

Gavin, no worries about being an asshole , that gives us something in common. I wondered the same thing but I didn't ask her. Maybe, Gavin, since she's not a doctor, she just believed that the 2nd shot was part of the normal process? I mean, who watches out for this? I hear ya though.

I complained to the embassy about the standards of health care at I.O.M You are allowed to chaperone your partner through the health checks as per the Australian guide book. However that was fine for taking the blood samples, but then all the girls were moved to another location were I went to in a minibus. They were then instructed to remove all there upper clothing for a cheat xray. At this point I was asked to leave. They were then given there results there and then in front of all the other patients. It was heart breaking for a girl who had discovered she had some for of illness that was showing up as a large black mass over her lungs. Many other had veering form of TB. Thankfully no problems were discovered with my girlfriend at the time.
^ I thought the I.O.M. only dealt with refugees?
I'm not a negative person, I encourage people all the time...it's usually to f**k off! But, whatever.
