The bugs of Cambodia
Rove beetles are the ne plus ultra of the insect kingdom undoubtedly.
Get one down your shirt and you will have an enduring memory for life.
Centipede bites take up to a year to heal from my personal experience sleeping on the ground in central Australia.
I am certain the same applies here.

Mosquitos are made into a bigger issue than they actually are.zeeto wrote:Yea I've heard that the mosquitoes are a big problem, are they any bot flies? those things are terrifying
In the city they aren't much of an issue.
Admittedly some people are more prone to bites than others... I travel around quite a bit and I rarely get bitten - I never use repellant.
You sound like a sensitive sort - which makes me wonder why you are travelling if small stuff like this is an issue.

* credit to them if they travel despite the challenges they face within themselves for whatever reason. Travel ought not be just for those that can handle insects and stuff.

Mosquitoes really bug me (pun intended), so im probably gonna stock up on repellent before I go.Khmerhamster wrote:

Its true the exotic insects are probably one of my biggest concerns, but I think the excitement for the journey outweighs my fear.

I got bit on the finger by one of those centipedes last month. My hand and lower forearm swelled up for weeks and the pain was the most excruciating I've ever felt. Like someone broke my hand with a hammer and then poured gas on it and set it on fire.

Dengue twice, so I try to be careful about mosquitos. Though admittedly, got dengue in the countryside (not the city), even though I was trying to be careful.zeeto wrote:Mosquitoes really bug me (pun intended), so im probably gonna stock up on repellent before I go.Khmerhamster wrote:Mosquitos are made into a bigger issue than they actually are.

These cuddly little bastards are not too dangerous, unlike the centipedes, which can kill children and a friend of mine came within a whisker of losing his leg from one two years back.
Squish on sight.
This particular one photographed in ban lung around six years ago. There's tons around my country house.

A scorpion I trod on barefoot but didn't bite.
Plus these little croaky bugs which we catch and collect and dewing before frying and eating. Creamy and savoury - one of the few bugs I really like to eat.
