OP, don't slink off now. Eleven pages of nothing and finally you post something interesting? Does the $20 reward apply if I give you the whereabouts of the lyin', fan thieving fucker? I will happily refund half ($5) if I can stay and watch him get his jaw shattered.
It appears to me that the seller had arranged with the buyer to give the money to his landlady, as he wouldn't be around on the day the buyer arranged to collect. He made a mistake in trusting the buyer it seems. The seller sounds quite deranged, whether it's from anger or just a natural bent.
He also doesn't come across as very articulate, but lets not start stealing from or deriding people because they are a bit dumb.
It does appear that someone had it over on the seller. A not unusual trick in the KOW when dealing within the expat community. In the end he shouldn't have been so trusting. I hope he learns from this mistake.
Did he have a right to start a thread? I believe he did. Does he have the right to be angry? Yes, but perhaps he should direct that anger at himself for not realizing what a lot of people are about

Or he made a mistake in not telling the landlady about it and thus wasting the buyer's time on a botched exchange. He has also given no explanation as to how the buyer could have agreed to pay him $40 for a fan he listed for sale at $30.Abou-Gor wrote:It appears to me that the seller had arranged with the buyer to give the money to his landlady, as he wouldn't be around on the day the buyer arranged to collect. As I said, he does comes across as a bit deranged. Anyone who has spent a few weeks in SNVL will know the type. That maybe covers the 30-40 $ thing, if it is indeed the same " cold fan" poster. Are we all sure about that?gavinmac wrote:Or he made a mistake in not telling the landlady about it and thus wasting the buyer's time on a botched exchange. How do you mean a botched exchange? For the seller you mean?
The buyer got the fan without paying any money for it. That doesn't sound like a botched exchange for the buyer. A botched exchange would have been if he went there and couldn't get the landlady to accept the cash for some reason, and so left without the fan.
Are you implying that the landlady wouldn't accept the money? On what grounds? Surely if the buyer explained the situation the landlady would have accepted the cash?
I can imagine a scenario much more likely where the buyer tells the landlady "He agreed to give it to me as I'm his friend."
In the end that part is all supposition, or is it? Do you have knowledge that your POV is right? Are you basing it all on previous experience of landladies not wanting to accept cash for things, but still handing them over?

Either the landlady wasn't there or wouldn't accept the money. There's no indication that the seller actually told her anything about the deal or her role in it. That would be his fault.
Also, the fact that the seller can't give a coherent explanation as to how the price jumped from $30 to $40 reflects negatively on his overall credibility as to the events surrounding this transaction.

Wasn't there? So, he was the sellers mate and knew which room he lived in, found the door open and just took it?gavinmac wrote:Either the landlady wasn't there or wouldn't accept the money.
So, the " landlady not excepting the cash" is just pure supposition not based on any real grounds? >> see my post above.
That's true, but doesn't let the acquiree off the hook. There's no indication that the seller actually told her anything about the deal or her role in it. That would be his fault.
Yes, both parties aren't coming out of this looking very good. You failed to answer my question above of whether we are sure it is the same "cold fan" seller? Also, the fact that the seller can't give a coherent explanation as to how the price jumped from $30 to $40 reflects negatively on his overall credibility as to the events surrounding this transaction.
Are you overall suggesting he is a troll and there is / was/ never has been a fan?

Please provide examples of where that has been said. You're making it up.
