Dual Nationality/Citizenship
Not yet, but one other key advantage is hard title land ownership - will get around to it at some point

Be careful though, some nationalities will lose their original Nationality by accepting a different one. Check your national laws carefully before accepting another nationality.
Very good point Kachang, but I think at least our friends 'across the pond' probably wouldn't mind that too much any longer!

Did you make a post for each passport?Phuket2006 wrote:My daughter holds dual nationality

So does mine, most laws make an exception for a dual Nationality gained because the parents have a different nationality, and granted at a young age (at least under 18).Phuket2006 wrote:My daughter holds dual nationality,

For me, if I would accept another nationality and it was known back home, I would lose my original one. No doubt. Its really sad very few people are aware of this, because citizens are expected to know the laws and no exceptions are made. I know a couple who went to Mauritius with their children, and got a 'second' nationality there to be able to buy some land and a house. When they went to their embassy in South Africa to renew their passports for their 'first nationality' they were refused a new passport, they had lost their first nationality by accepting another one.
After complaining they were not aware of this law, and starting a dispute against MOFA, MOFA decided the children got their 'first' nationality back, because they were minor and unaware, the parents, however, lost their 'first nationality. Now they have to visit their home country on a Schengen Visa, are not entitled to work there and can only stay for 90 days during a 180 day period. They can apply for citizenship again but currently this is a lengthy and difficult procedure which requires them to stay in the country for a long period of time first, which they can't because the Schengen visa doesn't allow. Kafka? Yes. But true.
So beware!

France does allow dual citizenship.
Marine Lepen is the only politician wishing to change that and still whom it affects would probably be selective.

Are you sure about the US? After the age of 18?Phuket2006 wrote:True;

Many countries allow it, but only for a selected group of people - the 'exceptions'. A lot of countries will not allow naturalization upon your own application after the age of 18, for instance. That's what would be the case for most of us posting in the forum here if applying for a Cambodian Passport.Barang_doa_slae wrote:France does allow dual citizenship.

However, I'm not sure if you obtain a Khmer passport the Royal Government of Cambodia will bother to inform anybody (currently). Personally, I don't take the risk.
