Immigration. Entry from UK after banned from Thailand
Immigration. Entry from UK after banned from Thailand
Hi All,
I am new to this forum. My first query is quite easy. I was living in Thailand until recently but was deported and banned for overstaying my visa a long time. Mostly my fault. Anyway I wish to return to SE Asia and Cambodia is my first choice to establish a new life in the region. Will the Cambodian Immigration Authority have an issue with my unfortunate status with the Thai authorities? I would rather get some feedback here before I approach the Cambodian Embassy in the UK! Many thanks.

I don't see how it would be an issue as long as you transit through KL or Singapore or whatever. You probably need a new passport though, I can't imagine having any black-listings or deportations is going to impress too many immigration officers.

If you can't afford a visa I'm sure Sihanoukville will welcome you with open arms.
the last of the old long term visa less bunch got deported last year at least the ones down here by the sea might be a few lurking elsewhereSteve Zodiac wrote:If you can't afford a visa I'm sure Sihanoukville will welcome you with open arms.

Was it 40% someone else's fault?iam555 wrote: Mostly my fault.
Anyway, most of the expats living in Cambodia now got forced out of Thailand one way or the other so you'll fit right in.

Curious - what does that look like? A big stamp in your passport with "Banned from Thailand" written on it, or do the Thai authorities just lob your details into a database and stop you on entry on that passport, or any future passport based on name, dob, etc. Surely the latter, which would beg the question of how Cambodian authorities would know about the ban at all. Presumably you could still also still transit through Bangkok, as they'd only care if you tried to get through immigration?

I was once thrown out of Myanmar for hidding in a bus to enter a restricted area. After being brought back to the airport immigration, my visa was very clearly stamped cancelled but without further notification. Almost 20 years later I have no idea if I ever was or maybe still am blacklisted.Spigzy wrote:Curious - what does that look like? In England you can get your family name changed easily and apply for a new passport.Should take 3 or 4 weeks and with new passport and new name you can travel anywhere you want and even get back to Thailand !

Never been fingerprinted in Thailand and in Cambodia they don't have his fingerprints as he is blacklisted from Thailand and not Cambodia.
Always worth a try.

Hi, I was deported from Thailand last year for working without a work permit (teaching English on a tourist visa) I renewed my passport once back in the UK because the current one had a big red stamp and Thai writing saying something along the lines of I'm banned from Thailand. I then travelled to Cambodia via Malaysia and everything was fine. After Cambodia I visited the Philippines and Japan also without any hassle. So I think if you renew your passport everything will be ok.iam555 wrote:Hi All,

Countries do not share other countries blacklists. In fact, they share as little as possible. Just fly in to Cambodia.
