Denis was a straight-up guy. Personally, I never believed the finding re his death. A guy I met in KC years ago told me an interesting story which led to my doubt.
If I were the expat guy who investigated Denis's disappearance, I would definitely follow up on this.
I already passed on what the expat in KC told me to him. This needs investigation.
afaik, Denis was mainly in KC, PP and he told me he spent 6 years in Sisophon, gotta admire someone for surviving there for so long, if descriptions I hear are true.

There was probably nothing sinister in Denis' death. At the end of the day, he was an alcoholic and it is indeed likely that he stumbled into the river on an evening walk.
That said, as harmless as Denis was sometimes in his drunkenness he could say things others may deem arrogant if not offensive. If he was pushed I'd suggest looking closely at the expat began tobacco workers that ran that Charlie Chaplin's bar in kampong cham.

Denis is already dead, no one is working on it any longer, so saying "I have secret info about his cause of death but I'm not saying what it is" is rather silly. Just do the morally right thing and create a sock puppet and post your spurious allegations about who killed him.

So it is now claimed that Uncle-Monty-Marwood's fateful date with Jenny Greenteeth may have involved a third party - a matchmaker

Also, at the time of his disappearance, he probably was concussed, having injured his head falling over the night before iirc, and the riverside promenade was flooded. I agree it was likely an accident.
I have heard a few other stories about why his demise could have been to benefit others. One was his landlord, for the school he had setup and which was ready for students. The other was a neighbour, whose family ties go to the top.
Chinese whispers won't do anything though.

He spent quite a bit of time working in Battambang and Pursat too as far as I remember.
