Why do the French here think everybody should be learning French and not English?

How many French women have you been with? That's a stereotype from like the 60s.
Anyways, it's no longer the lingua franca or diplomatic language as it was at various points in the past, but still an international language. It's an official language in many of their foreign colonies... That's what makes it an international language along with Spanish and Arabic. Let me guess, you're an Anglophone who only speaks English and never studied a foreign language? Had you asked him he likely would have explained what he gave the pet.
Do you also complain at the local hospitals that the paperwork and lab results are in French? The only one looking like an idiot here is you.

Has anyone else had enough of AG / SCC yet? I'm starting to think it's time to impose KIR's 'you're banned for being a boring twat' rule.
Actually I think the lad is in a bit of trouble, trouble in mind, and could do with a friend or two. I'm not volunteering but maybe he needs a little kindness.scobienz wrote:Has anyone else had enough of AG / SCC yet? Playboy has clearly progressed through the stages of xx. So much more inclined to lift a finger and do the banning himself. Nice to see the change.

French, like Latin, is an archaic language used by the elite or elite wannabes. Yes, that's including the French. I notice a lot of French people speak the modern lingua-franca - they just refuse to use it in their paperwork and would seem to prefer everyone drop English for French in their 'colonies'. It's somewhat comparable to HE, in that nobody wants him except a bunch of selfish cnuts, but he will not give in.
Grabbing onto the last vestiges of their power. Weak.

You do know that the french and the Vikings were the only people who kicked the crap out of the English, right? And that a very large percentage of 'English' law, architecture, culture and language is actually of French derivation, right?
Now taites-toi and passez les chips, you pie-eating surrender monkey.
The last time the frogs scored a major win over the Brits was 1066. We kicked their arses pretty much every weekend for the next 800 years and saved 'em from the Krauts twice. In return they foisted the EU on us which we're finally extricating ourselves from.
Surrender monkeys generally refers to the frogs and Belgians. Getting senile in your old age?

A ban will just result in a new sock puppet.

Plastic Bertrand once famously said something.
Since that time and the demise of Johnny Halliday nothing of any importance has been uttered in the French language anywhere in the world.
Word on the street is that Les Frogs are so keen to keep the tricolor flying in this country that they pay the electric board to retain a French name - EDC. Bizarre but apparently true.
