Really? it sounds to me like someone sucking snot up their nose through a straw. ee yaw, ee yaw (don't forget to breathe in when pronouncing these words).
French, like Latin, is an archaic language used by the elite or elite wannabes. Yes, that's including the French. I notice a lot of French people speak the modern lingua-franca - they just refuse to use it in their paperwork and would seem to prefer everyone drop English for French in their 'colonies'. It's somewhat comparable to HE, in that nobody wants him except a bunch of selfish cnuts, but he will not give in.
Grabbing onto the last vestiges of their power. Weak.
Going from French to HE? Quite a stretch. And yes, most people would consider French to be a much more romantic and expressive language than say English.

Not so sure there mate.

For example the english word ''bollocks'' in latin is evidently ''colei'' and in French it's the near same ''couilles''.

So did the froggies nick alot of their language from the Italians then?

They weren’t frogs, they were Vikings. In fact, it was a Viking King supplanting a Viking. Harold’s name was Harold Godwinson. He had just defeated his brother, Tostig, allied with the King of Norway – Harald Hardrada, at Stamford Bridge in the NE of England. He then marched his soldiers the 270 or so miles back to confront William the Bastard.

One should remember that the Northern ‘English’ and ‘French’ nobility were a mix of Viking invaders & locals. It is well known that the Earls of Northumbria were of Danish & Anglo Saxon descent.

So it is hardly accurate to call 1066 a victory of the ‘French’ over the Énglish’.

‘Brits’ is also wildly inaccurate, as I’m sure you’ll agree.
