Serious question:
Where is a nice place to go out for dinner and/or drinks in SHV? Of course there are lots of places to get a beer, and even some alright food options (BBQs on Otres 2 beach are great, and I enjoy a large shared lunch at Olive and Olive). But, are there any actual nice, classy places that one could go to with full length pants and shirt and fit in?
Other than Sokha that is. As a 5-star hotel, Sokha needs to have a number of restaurants. They have a lot of options, with a varying degree of formality. I was there over Christmas, and we really didn't want to eat at the Sokha for Christmas dinner, but we couldn't find one other reasonable alternative. We settled at the Lemongrass restaurant, and had a fabulous Christmas meal (despite lackluster reports from the night before). But seriously, where else nice is there to go?

Independence hotel has a few restaurants, Japanese, Korean (but no Chinese oddly) and the beach restaurant has seating inside. You could try the place on the hill behind the Russian car place with the plane on top. Get to it between those two lions in the dip.
pew, pew, pew, pew!

Good valued 8$ to 12$ lunch sets followed by 2 for 1 happy hour cocktails that must be way cheaper than in PP upscale venues like Metro or Oskar. Fresh sea breeze and quietness are free of charge.ricecakes wrote:Jesus Jamie...sushi one minute...cocktails the next. You must spend a fortune on beard pomade and man bun styling getting ready every day...
Glass on the far right must have been mine btw
Let's not forget the occasional fairer skinned Chinese and Korean cuties in bikinis, and all the permutations of jokes one can have with the waitresses by drinking sex on the beach. #glassinthemiddleBarang_doa_slae wrote:Good valued 8$ to 12$ lunch sets followed by 2 for 1 happy hour cocktails that must be way cheaper than in PP upscale venues like Metro or Oskar. Obviously all of the higher end hotels will have the most formal restaurants, a few others that are a notch down but usually decent values...
Sandan opposite Shanghai KTV
Dim Sum at the Holiday Casino
Sushi at Victory Castle (mainly for the view)
Chne Meas at the northern end of Victory beach for seafood
Yasmine Cafe by Serendipity pier although it varies and it's quite a touristy spot
Monkey Marks for Pub type setting without the hassles

Nice pic's Jamie champ. As stated the fresh sea breeze~ the sound of silence apart from the gentle waves lapping on the seashore ,the beautiful view out at sea watching the longtail boats putter along, the Chinese, Korean, Russian and all the other beauties strolling along the beach in bikinis is priceless, costs nothing. PP expats don't get it.
Why some call it Shitville is jealously imo.

Some people don't like living in small towns.
