Yeah, 440 has allowed reposted unsubstantiated claims made on other internet platforms to stand before, but not around alleged domestic incidents. This doesn't feel right.

As K440's resident historian and shit stirrer, I would point out that there was a thread just six weeks ago based on Khmers claiming that a drunk Irishman assaulted his ladyboy girlfriend.

Fair point, but in that case there were witnesses around, photos of the immediate aftermath and, I believe, it was reported in local media so reproducing it and discussing the likelihood of it happening or not seems fair game.

In this instance it is a ranting ex-girlfriend making a random accusation on Facebook post. It's a slightly different dynamic at play.

Imagine if I knew your real name and was pissed off with your smartarse comments. What is to stop me from creating a Khmer Girl's FB account, make a similar accusation about you, naming you, putting up your pic, and then using a sock puppet to bring it over onto 440? It could happen, you know.

I've known Keegan for a few years. Never heard anything like this about him from friends that also know him, nor has he given any reason to suspect anything. I guess that's not unusual in these circumstances.

She posted publicly that he slapped her in front of her kid and let her sleep on the street with her daughter and that now he's calling her at 1 a.m. to disturb her life. It sounds like they are no longer living together if he is calling her at 1 a.m. She didn't give a timeline; Khmers suck with verb tenses.

It seems a bit short-sighted to me that she would publicly post that he should be fired from his NGO job while simultaneously complaining that he doesn't give money for his son.

That said, I like how every thread on K440 about foreigner misbehavior includes a post saying "He's a top bloke I think this is a set up."

There's an interesting double standard that if a Westerner posts on K440 that "The G Pub owner poured boiling hot water on my friend" readers generally accept it as true. If a Western hotel owner like Hanno posts the passport of an alleged bill-skipper like he did last week, no one bats an eye.

But if Khmer woman accuses a Westerner of violent anti-social behavior then readers defend the white guy and demand removal of the thread and passport info.

I think it has more to do with credibility than the double standard in this case (although I don't recall the G Pub thread). Not all posters are equal.

i.e. Lots of people know Hanno in person (I don't), but he seems to be well known enough to not be someone to BS about something of this nature, whereas on the other hand, no one knows who this lady is and her story is flimsy at best and is already falling apart it seems.

Same reason I'd sooner listen to your post regarding U.S. law vs. other posters, including those who claim to be lawyers.
