I'm not a negative person, I encourage people all the time...it's usually to f**k off! But, whatever.

8 deaths reported on main news page since mid April..surely that some sort.of.record?
I read some of these articles...why are so many of them so mysterious? Is it just due to Cambodia still being a developing nation, therefore not caught up with the rest of the world on confirming causes of death or are a lot of these people being murdered and it is being covered up?
I'm sure that expats and visitors there often get into issues with drugs and other illegal things, which might lead to some people wanting to kill them...then you have a young, healthy looking man drinking "too much" red wine and dying of a heart attack or breathing problems what? That story about the young Chinese dude is just strange.
I guess he might have died from drinking too much, but is this a common thing among young men in Cambodia? I'm sure it happens with older men all the time.
More creepy, strange stories:

This has been an ongoing theme on this site since it started back in 2003. There were many unexplained deaths then, which were put down to dizziness. In recent years there have been no deaths from dizziness, but a whole lot of heart attacks. When there are a lot of deaths of young people from heart-attacks we do of course wonder. When there are a lot of deaths from "suicides" in Koh Rong we also wonder, especially when most of the pictures/ reports show people who are kneeling with a ligature around their neck rather than hanging.whiteboy wrote:I read some of these articles...why are so many of them so mysterious? A lot of these so called "heart attacks" are most likely drug overdoses. I don't believe there is a proper autopsy system in place here, so if someone dies mysteriously it is put down to heart attack most of the time. If the authorities find drug paraphernalia nearby it might be put down as an overdose. Basically you need to do your best not to snuff it here, otherwise you might just end up as another heart attack.
Romantic Cambodia is dead and gone. It's with McKinley in the grave.

In a place where death can be attributed to 'thinking too much' it's not really a surprise that dodgy conclusions are made and accepted by authorities.

No white man hides himself in the wilderness without a reason
Something wrong with the guests I'd say.

After a few posters that were keeping track of things stopped, coupled with some frustration on missing news stories, I believe that it was discontinued before my reign even began. We can try to get it back up and running for this year, in the new thread.HsRob wrote:[Are there stats for 2017 totals? I am unable to find if anyone was keeping a tab on that?
