Reports of major change to visa laws imminent
Things have swung the other way over in India quite a few British people are now being issued with 5 year tourist visas - one mate has multiple entry no need to leave every 6 month visa issued in Birmingham, whilst others with visas issued in London have 5 year but have to leave every six months. (fly to Sri Lanka for a day or so)
I know that's nothing to do with here but if anyone is considering a long term move it might be useful

"We are turning into a nation of whimpering slaves to Fear—fear of war, fear of poverty, fear of random terrorism, or suddenly getting locked up in a military detention camp on vague charges of being a Terrorist sympathizer." HST
Thanks for that, good to know! In that case I guess I'll use their eVisa in the future, that way at least I won't get a full-page visa sticker each time I enter.Lucky Lucan wrote:Am I right in thinking you are a US national? In which case it isn't going to happen anytime soon. This is a type of visa which depends on reciprocal agreements between the given nations. Considering the recent breakdown in relations where the Royal Government has refused to accept any more of the unregistered Cambodian-born but American-raised detritus from the border camps, and the US has hit back with visa restrictions for Cambodian visitors, this is not on the cards for the time being.

Where did you read you will have to leave Cambodia to extend a business visa?

Nah, I hope they don't. Too many long noses in this country. Frankly we Asians are dead tired of seeing them all over the place.Alex wrote:Thanks for the update, PSD_Kiwi, much appreciated! I'm not Japanese, hopefully they'll extend the scheme to other nationalities at some point soon. My current 1-year EOS is still good for quite some time, so I might still manage a seamless transition.
I hope they will further tighten the visa regime. And I'm happy to see the Prime Minister taking measures to remind the US of their place on this planet. They have always been intrusive, interfering, nosy and the kind who are shamelessly delusional, openly assuming certain countries are an extension of the US, a 51st state of some sort. I once met an American in Singapore and I just detested listening to his Americanisms. What's that in American money? Must be 104 today, we don't have these crazy temps back in Louisville. Cool, I'll touch base with ya in the morning.
The fact that other Asian countries are following suit and revamping their visa policies is a welcome and very good change indeed. I struggle to understand why westerners don't get it. It's fairly simple and straightforward: you come as guests here, you act as guests and behave accordingly and appropriately. Why is this a conundrum for some here? I understand it's probably common custom for most here to rebel and find ways to circumvent rules in their countries but they seem to forget that other rules apply when one is geographically displaced from that home sweet home, those four walls of their nanny states.
Yeah we need more order, clean it all up, get rid of all the longnoses here, who can't figure the price out in riel, and all the Asians in the US should all go back home too, mostly rude, and hardly speak English, so they sit in the back of their liqueur shops with some underpaid latinom or even their own kids, in front taking care of the customers while they chow down their rice and poridge saving every single dime, for whatever, I really don't know, . same with Europe, Asians all over the place now, and rude too, it's the new Chinese global domination attitude they got from their great money laundering scheme, pegging their currency to the dollar and employing slave labour in all their factories along the south coast, I swear from my last trip home, I could hardly get into some of my old fave diners, just swarming with nuevo richie Asian tourists with zero manners, and oversized Nikon's ,
fxckin' passenger jets, is probably really to blame for all this mess!!!

Isn't the plural of Nikon, Nikon? (Definitely not Nikon's)
Back on topic.
Everyone seems to think it's business (get it!) as usual...until next year.

Wow, this shows the leniency of the new admin, can't stand the racism, genetic science and social psychology is more complicated than that.
The conflicting info is apparent here, surely things will change here long term and disallow anyone causing harm and disruption to the society with a 'business' visa, like that crazy Spanish lady wearing black shirts and all that.

Let's face facts.
There is quite a lot of "White Trash" in Cambodia that contributes nothing to society or the country's wellbeing, advancement or culture that could easily be flushed out of the country and never be missed.

I'm thinking it's a money issue, finding a lot of potential here, yet a culture dominated by bloated content providers with a strange taste for never ending 80's style guitar solos. Most definitely room for cultural improvement, which the latest hipster invasion seem to be all over as proof. Most of the white people I see are working professionals enjoying the personal freedoms allowed. Tighten regulations and there might be nothing left but drunken short term tourists and backpackers to hate on.

How do you figure? This changes nothing for all of expats with work permits, and is akin to what many posters have suggested in the past.businessclass wrote:Tighten regulations and there might be nothing left but drunken short term tourists and backpackers to hate on.
