Crossed back into Vietnam after a six month absence only to discover that Beer Saigon has shrunk its bottles but the price re ains the same! When did this happen? Why weren't there mass protests on the streets?
Beer Lao is now officially the cheapest beer in Indochina.

You should try some of the many craft beers now available in Vietnam. I had a couple of IPA's made by Pasteur Street last night; excellent. We also had a couple of the 2-liter Saigon Beer kegs, also very good.

Yes,the Saigon Trang(white) which used to be called Saigon Green, used to come in 440ml bottles, but a few months ago the size was changed to the same as Saigon Red-355ml.As you say,the price remained more or less the same-it might have dropped by a small amount, but was effectively a price increase, although a sneaky one
The only "Western style" bar in Ha Tien
I am not a huge fan of IPA so cannot say I really like the Pastuer Street but I really like the Platinum Draft and also the Furbrew pacific Wheat.
I was drinking 500ml tiger bottles for 25,000 in Mai Chau.

Saigon Green has always been about 5000 dong more than Red. So maybe they figure more Green sales if the prices are the same for Red and Green.
Saigon City warning: Saigon Red is 50,000 in most western bars that I've been in recently. Social Media would call this "trending".
I have my eye on Saigon Beer's Blonde and Pilsener and will taste them when I get back to Vietland soon. I'm not a hophead. I never liked the Pasteur Jasmine IPA. Its Coffee Porter was all right..

Never liked Saigon much, it reminds me of that pissy French Kronenbourg stuff. I've always been a big fan of Beer Lao, unfortunately it's hard to get in Phnom Penh outside of a few foreigner bars. There's a wine shop opposite Psah Kandal that sells crates but I don't know of any others, local places don't seem to stock it.horace wrote:Crossed back into Vietnam after a six month absence only to discover that Beer Saigon has shrunk its bottles but the price re ains the same! An advantage of Temple Town: every mom-and-pop shop sells Beer Lao.Lucky Lucan wrote:Never liked Saigon much, it reminds me of that pissy French Kronenbourg stuff. Hello Violet.
Do you mean that Lao women are now even smaller but more expensive?
I find that a tad hard to believe.
