The Real Reason Puerto Rico Didn't Get Much Aid?
Not sure, but is it because PR doesn't pay federal taxes, but still draws unemployment, health, and other benefits from the U.S?
They also can't vote for or against Trump, right?
Because the right to vote is tied with the burden of taxes, right? Put up or shut up, right?
So, just trying to get this straight, PR is kind of on the dole already, and really has no voice with the world power "caretaker" PR has right now?
I guess if you snub the world power by voting not to be a state of it, and can hardly pay your bills by yourself, then a hurricane comes by while an isolationist President is in power ... Then you're kinda screwed, kind of (forgive me PR friends) of their own doing, right?

I'm glad with the small amount of taxes paid here, there aren't many major natural disasters, besides what, yearly flooding?
No earthquakes, hurricanes, typhoons, tsunamis, volcanoes (Bali), or complaining NFL sports stars in Cambodia?
Guess we've got it made if we can just put up with the occasional retards, sons-in-law of the boss, and massively indifferent people.

The lame OP aside, Puerto Rico is an interesting story. Elon Musk, of electric care maker Tesla fame, is never shy about making bold claims. He famously Tweeted a challenge to solve South Australia's energy issues "within 100 days" of signing a contract to build a renewable energy storage system to power the grid to last for several days without sunshine, something apparently lacking currently. A bid was put out, Tesla won and is already building that system. He partnered with a French firm who is building a wind farm there as part of the deal.

Musk is now exchanging Tweets with the Governor of Puerto Rico about rebuilding the devastated island's power grid using similar technology on a bigger scale. God knows who would pay for the system (hello US taxpayers), as Puerto Rico is nearly $100 billion in debt as it is, and that was before the catastrophic hurricane. The entire power grid has to be rebuilt from scratch. But it will be a fascinating glimpse into future possibilities if they can pull it off, and have the entire island powered exclusively by renewable energy someday.

Imagine a world without oil, and all the douchebaggery that has accompanied our addiction to it. Won't happen in my lifetime, but it's got to happen eventually. Although that most likely brings in 'Big Lithium', etc. instead of 'Big Oil'. Same outcome, different commodity? Will Bolivia become the new Saudi Arabia?

But so was Steve Jobs, and who really cares? They're both brilliant.
Their exchange of tweets is extremely interesting and hopeful. It truly is the perfect chance for them to prove their technology at a large scale.
And who pays for it? Well who would pay for regular electricity to be reinstated? And with the debt, bizarrely Trump just referenced canceling the debt (until the budget director backtracked a bit). So who knows.

What's so lame about my post? All that fake and twisted news I see about how cruel or aloof the Pres. is is just so much B.S.Edwardo wrote:The lame OP aside, Puerto Rico is an interesting story...

Hence, my post, since I can read between the lines.
And dude, Puerto Rico and renewable WILL NEVER BE ALLOWED to flourish, if it would mean upsetting the world order.
Saudi and Russia and America all still want oil. They may have contracts for the next 10-20 years for all we know.
It may take that long for oil to be too scarce to allow renewable in on a large scale.
They'd takeover, buy, bomb, and generally obstruct any major attempt.
Why? Because they are bad people? Not really. Because huge amounts of power and money would shift, and no one takes that lying down.
So, kudos to the good billionaire, Elon, who is changing the world faster than the much-lobbied elected leaders do, but it'll take much more than that to dislodge the trillion dollar oil industry, just saying.
In 20 years, maybe 10, we'll see some significant benefits, although I hope Cambodia gets to see hydroelectric (clean) power on a major scale without any silly outside interference this upcoming year.

Very lame OP, but its worthy of a Trump joke, just.
Trump: "These conditions are terrible, just horrible. So sad! How can anyone live like this?"
Sir: "This is Miami, we're just refuelling the plane"

My posts are just jokes, maybe they're rude, offensive, and politically incorrect. They're not my opinion, viewpoint, idea, or judgement, but they're just fucking jokes so lighten up.

You mean bleeding heart, throw good money after bad, give huge aid to a place known to misuse money? What?
Yes, give aid. They are U.S. citizens. But shouldn't it be commensurate to how much aid they really want?
They don't want the full benefits of a First World power. They don't want to pay taxes like everyone else.
Occasionally, some places, and some hard-headed people, have to learn the hard way to understand the benefits of the system offered to them.
Right now is NOT the time to ask the U.S. (during its temporary consolidation/financial recovery) for aid.
Man, you see the abrupt shift of Saudi to Russian oil collusion and arms? Loyal friends those Saudis are. Right...
Expect to see more of Uncle Sam shrugging at non-U.S. problems and giving much less aid.

As someone that’s worked in Puerto Rico the topic is an interesting one. However, your delivery style is lifeless, stale and stodgy, hence why no ones wants to post.
Next time, just write the headline and don’t write anything else.

I'd add pedantic to the point it becomes involuntarily comical, which is why nobody takes Teletubby seriously.Garry Crabtree wrote: your delivery style is lifeless, stale and stodgy,

I see the "Twitter Effect" has taken over your minds.
140 character posts are all your minds can take now.
Woe to the future if you have more than a few paragraphs to write about.
My postings are fine, if written off the top of my balding head.
You two posters just don't like me or are threatened by me, hence constant interference with my post. "We aren't so smart, so we'll try to drown them out with bad jokes and snarkiness!"
Twitter boys ...

Clearly I have an opinion and write in larger than 28 word messages (140 characters).
Anyways, no one can explain the U.S.'s indifference to Puerto Rico better than I?
I find that hard to believe, there has to be more to the subject than that.
