Blade Runner 2049
My wife and I saw it yesterday at Aeon's Major Cineplex. This movie is amazing! My wife (Khmer), who doesn't like sci-fi, and never saw the first one (which came out 35 years ago!), absolutely loved it. Get ready for a 2 hour and 44 minute mind-blowing experience. Theater #5 (the largest screen), $3.5 (some special mon-thur promo) +$1(?) 3D glasses if you don't have your own. Do not see in 4DX.
I am sooooo very sorry if you can't understand or appreciate my sarcastic facetiousness.

Excellent post about a great movie.
My signature is from the original movie.
Dystopic Chinesish future coming to Phnom Penh in just 10-15 years, they're working on the hover cars and towers now, haha.
They warned us about this!

Thanks - been waiting almost 30 years for this! One question - I'm REALLY sensitive to cold - is the A/C set at like 16, as in Americana cinemas? If so, I'll take a sweater.

Colder. Khmer gals need long pants and a scarf is nice. They cuddle for any movie, it's quite cold in there.rgrowden wrote:Thanks - been waiting almost 30 years for this! One question - I'm REALLY sensitive to cold - is the A/C set at like 16, as in Americana cinemas? If so, I'll take a sweater.
Gotten better, if it took YEARS for the noise culture to settle down.
Now it's just the occasional Khmer professional talking on the phone before the movie, but usually not during anymore.
Improvements can happen, even if it takes YEARS to complete.

3 hours (with all the ads and trailers) of very very very cold! Luckily I wore jeans and brought 2 heavy hoodies for us. When we left the cinema, we had to run downstairs to thaw outside. My fingers were numb. So freaking worth it! The best movie I've seen in a long time. I'm going to see it again before it disappears from the cinemas. The 2:40pm screening had less than 10 people. "The Promise" was full. I don't think many locals will enjoy, or try to understand this movie. And it's TWO HOURS AND FORTY FOUR MINUTES LONG! Not for impatient, borderline ADHD millennials with short attention spans, or morons like Trump, imho.rgrowden wrote:Thanks - been waiting almost 30 years for this! I liked the movie, great special effects and lots of twists in the story, although it didn't have a greater impact on my mind as the first did. Theatre not too cold but the movie volume was unnecessarily loud.

k440, something to do when you're pissed.
Masterpiece.
Over half the Khmer audience in Toul Kork late night viewing (8.30pm) left after 1 hour - I'd argue it is better to have seen the original, although this film can stand alone which is a great achievement.

I'll not take the wife.
I couldn't stand the "Is he a baddie?" Or "Why is he running away when he has the gun?" Or "Why is he doing that?" Or "is he going to die?" Or "When does this finish?" Or "I'm hungry" or "I'm cold".
She'd probably hate it if there's ANY violence or blood.

Thanks for the info about the cold and noise. As I have tinnitus, it seems I'l be watching this at home with Orville Redenbacher's (thank you, SuperDuper) and the cats.
Somewhat related, kind of.
When Harrison Ford broke a leg filming his last Star Wars appearance, his wife Calista Flockhart was phoned by producers and informed Harrison had the accident while on the Millenium Falcon. Calista didn't know what the Millenium Falcon was, assuming it was a normal jet.
Harrison's wife didn't know what the Millenium Falcon was???? I mean, who in the English speaking world doesn't know what the Millenium Falcon is?

The Millennium Falcon, originally known as YT-1300 492727ZED, was a Corellian YT-1300f light freighter used by the smugglers Han Solo and Chewbacca during the Galactic Civil War. It was previously owned by Lando Calrissian, who lost it to Solo in a game of sabacc.

Am familiar with the name and could tell you which movie series it came from but couldn’t pick it out of a line up.
Geeks, the lot of you.
