Vietnamese/Cambodian relations
I see there is a new hospital on National Road 1, which is a result if Cambodia and Vietnam working together - Cho Ray Hospital. The vacancy ads ask for applicants ti speak Vietnamese (a plus but not a requirement) as well as English and Khmer.
Reading foryms and social media, and listening to many locals, one would think there is nithing posituve about relatiins between the two coyntries. In areas of business an trade, things seem cicil.
True or not?
What are other examples of the successful partnership between the two countries?
In agricukture and food production, Cambodia exports foods to be processed and then reimports it. Hydro dams.

Typos aside. Those who dont have a lot of money to go to Thailand or other countries for treatment they usually go to Vietnam, and a lot of Khmer go there. So it makes good business sense for VN hospitals wanting to operate in the Kingdom.

That hospital opened in January 2014. Apparently they have the best cross-border ambulance service for any patient with serious problems.

Romantic Cambodia is dead and gone. It's with McKinley in the grave.

I was told it had only been open a year but i guess time flies. I was told today the roads around it suffer from major traffic delays...is that still the case or has roadwork ended? Never heard of it before, but it is perhaps one to consider.

Lots of military types go to Vietnam for hospital treatment. Even highish ranking guys go to or are sent to Vietnam. (There are lots of five stripe or one star guys who can't afford the treatment here) there is a cooperation agreement with a hospital in Saigon where many of them go. Much if it paid for or covered by the military here. Too many people who have served a lot of years for their country in the military have to go and get treated or die in hospital in Vietnam because they cant do it here.

There is a 3 star guy living across the road from me. Drives a nice car and the house is fine but he certainly doesn’t appear to be stinking rich. I was surprised to hear he was 3 star.kansaicanuck wrote:Lots of military types go to Vietnam for hospital treatment. Even highish ranking guys go to or are sent to Vietnam. I suppose with the hundreds of generals in the army they can’t all be rich!

Yup. Many of them are not rich and many of them are barely scraping by. It doesn't help the fact that lots of the older guys in their 50s who have served their country for years and years are being passed in rank by 20 something rich city kids now.ផោមក្លិនស្អុយ wrote: There is a 3 star guy living across the road from me. There's a good novel recently published called Midnight in Cambodia that goes into the topic in a semi-serious semi-humorous way. $5 e-book on Amazon. I'd grab a copy
