Maybe what the above chart is really all about is cheap borrowing, and maybe that is what the mad rush to build in SHV has been all about?
UK and Europe debt cycle peaked, Asia playing catch up?

Would they count as tourists?crazyjohn wrote:Actually five in 2015 and one in 2016. A total of six.
For me it's is very interesting and somewhat alarming. It should be for everyone working for western tourists.
Almost double the amount of chinese tourist. Pff. It seems much more than expected.
I wonder what the effect will be on Western tourist numbers. Will be in SR in september and will see with my own eyes.
I tried to get more detailed numbers on how many to SHV and SR. But website of MOT is down. Probably because all of the visitors of Khmer440 are looking onto this.

Unfortunately only have it as a PDF. I've shared most of the interesting parts. It then breaks down the arrival numbers for each region of the world by country of residence.Judge wrote:Any link to the full report?
Where do you get them from, Miguelito? The website doesn't have anything past April '17.

I get all sorts of random things forwarded to me - sometimes you just need to know who to ask The Cambodia Hotel Association also sends this out. I'm happy to forward you the report, PM me your email. Here's the front page of the report, and it has the POC phone and email that you could also try contacting to get on the distribution list.epidemiks wrote:Where do you get them from, Miguelito? What I can see in this few charts, is that not SHV but PP is growing much faster! SR has least growth????
Why are they going more to PP than SHV or SR?

Wow. That’s a shit load of Chinese compared to last year.
UK and US visitors continues to drop.
I’ve been a steadfast supporter or the changes (in denial) in SHV but just recently it appears to be gearing up for a crazy 2019, after the wet season. It’s sad.
Annoyingly we can’t move yet because of my wife’s studying.

YaTingPom,
Do you remember the good ole' days of pre 2015 mate?
I noticed that those last remaining barang oriented restaurants behind Occheuteal beach along the road have gone aswell. Kind of fascinating and jaw dropping at the same time to see the changes in such a short space of time.
A lot of bloody power cuts where i am. Was trying to sleep on the tiled floor last night because of the heat. A few Chinese owned businesses seem to be putting in exactly the same model large generators outside their premises.
Anyway, off to Thailand soon.
