Retirement visa under 55 - not happening
Just to pass along. I am unfortunately in the bracket of actually being retired and under the age of 55.
I contacted Kim as suggested on the forum and she indicated that there is currently no chance to receive a retirement visa.
This despite having a son properly registered with a Khmer birth certificate & Cambodia passport. And being able to show a significant retirement income along with receipts for rent payments here in Cambodia for the past couple years (over $1000/month).
So we are very disappointed but we'll have to plan on leaving Cambodia. She also indicated that while its possible to get a 6 month tourist extension that doing so might endanger being readmitted to Cambodia in the future - as it is to be a one-time issuance with no possibility of obtaining similar visa again.

Why not just get the one year ordinary visa & "permit" & extend every year until you are 55? By "permit" I mean the same approach as others that have flown below the permit radar for years are now sorting out via shell companies or agencies, etc. If you're that loaded to be retired under 55, there must be a way in Cambodia.

I don't understand your post, there is no one year ordinary visa, it's possible to get 12 month extensions but only with the right documents.Spigzy wrote:Why not just get the one year ordinary visa & "permit" & extend every year until you are 55? If you are in Siem Reap, he/she seems to offer all sort of visa services.

Your 'despite' paragraph has no bearing on retirement Visa status and nor should it. What is lacking is consideration and provision of visa status for the many in your situationtwiceayear wrote:Just to pass along. I am unfortunately in the bracket of actually being retired and under the age of 55.

Try more. Start with Lucky Lucky on Monivong.
I tried going to several places in Siem Reap and was told a different story at each place. Some told me only those over 60 years old could be retired. One told me to get the "one-time" visa for 6 months and then go to Thailand, come back and get it again. When I pointed out she said "one-time" she then asked me if I wanted to listen to her or to the government?
Basically, none of the places I went to inspired confidence. Nor did they want to even attempt to help me apply for a retirement visa - they just wanted to apply for the EG-" one time " visa since they knew it would be issued. But none wanted to discuss what happens in 6 months. So that is when I decided to email Kim and ask if she could help. She spoke with my (not legally married) wife and explained that as of today they are simply not processing any retirement visa from anyone under the age of 55. And she cautioned that the "one-time" visa may well turn out to be one-time and inhibit future entry to Cambodia.
I will call Lucky Lucky on Monday and we are also going to call the immigration office directly on Monday. But previous experience tells me that unless we knew someone working there that we aren't going to get much help.

Can't you get some document from place you get retirement income? Take stamps to this paper from your embassy and take it to immigration police when applying visa extension.twiceayear wrote:being able to show a significant retirement income
Don't bother do it with fixer.
Pardon my engrish, thanks you.
My friend got a wp without any papers other than a passport and residency letter direct through the relevant ministry. Remember where you are and that a solution is always possible if the correct palms are greased...
