The official game opened yesterday.
Got a league going here:
https://fantasy.fifa.com/en/leagues?cod ... 584E414A38
Similar rules to the EPL game with wildcard, maximum captain and bench boost.
The key difference is that you can swap players in during the round and also change your captain.
Top prize is a Kia Sportage....which is nice...
Good luck!
Fantasy Football World Cup 2018
It's a really awful website - but gotta do it! In!
Any other decent leagues worth joining for prizes & stuff? Couldn't find any on an initial Google search, will have a proper rummage over the weekend.

Sorry I meant leagues to join inside the FIFA game - I'm the same, one competition is plenty!zehner wrote:I'm sure there are other leagues like The Sun and Telegraph but I couldn't be arsed joining more than one competition.

good defence guide here: https://www.fantasyfootballscout.co.uk/ ... t_18239388
Since there's just the three of us - throwing my team out there for comment. My gut feeling is that it could be quite a high scoring tournament as many are going with Pep's 3 at the back/sweeper keeper approach; as many don't have his tactical nous, that means some leaky defences for me. The trouble is that the game doesn't really lend itself towards rewarding goals, more for clean sheets across GK, defenders & midfielders, so picking out tight defences with a few attacking bonus points seems the way to go for me. As such I'm going likely with a 5-4-1 line up, and taking a gamble on the golden boot winner:
GK: Lloris
DF: Kolarov, Kimmich, Rojo, Coates, Meunier
MF: Isco, Rodriguez, Hazard, Mueller, Countinho
ST: Griezmann, Diaz, Chaaleli
€100m on the nose.
The next questions to tackle are when to use the Maximum Captain & Bench Boost chips; my take:
Bench Boost: Round 1 - I think this chip must be used in the group stages, as later on you need to transfer in only players remaining in the tournament, and that gets more and more difficult in the later rounds to get a full bench boost where you're probably still hanging on to some Tunisia & Panama bench warmers so you can accommodate the big hitters.
Maximum Captain: Round 3 - last group stage games & thus there will be hopefully a couple of 'dead rubbers' where a top end player can exploit the fact a poor quality side is already out & couldn't really give a monkeys beyond pride.
Also worth bearing in mind that you can hot-sub players in this game, it isn't like the FPL, so best to put your guys playing the early games in your line up - see how they play, and if rubbish, then sub them out & take a punt your sub will bring home the bacon.
Any other tips/ideas for the K440 mighty 3?

I think with this style of game the defenders inevitably end up being the most popular picks......especially the wingbacks like Kimmich and Meunier.
It's a similar approach to the Champions league fantasy where everyone ends up with a big defence, cheap mids and big strikers.
I would ditch Lloris, Kolarov, Rojo and Coates. You need some Brazil and Spain in there..Marcelo could easily outscore Coutinho and Alba Isco....
The midfield looks great but the two cheap strikers really spoil it. I have Isco and Carrasco and 3 cheap mids who i think will do just as well as the big names.
Up top i have Griezmann, Jesus and Werner

Well if you have Jesus on your side you can't losezehner wrote:I think with this style of game the defenders inevitably end up being the most popular picks......especially the wingbacks like Kimmich and Meunier.

Ok, I've had a quick jiggle and dipped into Senegal a bit harder as outsiders, giving me a full complement of starters with only a couple of possible bench warmers. Whilst fishing I got some more info on the odds of each team as outright winner, then threw that into a fixture list sausage mill that gave me a ranking of each round so I could work out which is the best to play my "Bench Boost" card. For my team selection & the nationalities represented I found that Round 2 for me gives me the most David vs Goliath scenarios and thus best to play my card (assuming Goliath pulls his finger out this time!). In a quirk of fate, this also highlights that the Belgium v Panama game is second most likely to reap benefits - so Captain Hazard it is then ... (Spain v Iran is marginally higher, but falls in round two where I'll play my Bench Boost).
Mathematically I've got it all figured out. Sadly when I base my EPL fantasy footy on numbers I've found I record my lowest scores!
In case of any interest beyond Fantasy Footy & a potential flutter, here are the Soccerbot odds (model made by applied mathematician David Sumpter & author of Soccermatics - the model outperforms bookies by 1800% according to CBS Sports )

*Oops, final edit - also some stats out there that the group games are always higher scoring, each subsequent round drops around 0.5 goals per game on average - so could be an argument for more attacking line ups in Rounds 1-3, and gradually switching to a defensive line up later in the game.
