What happens if I pay bridewealth to my girlfriend's family and she decided to leave me afterwards?

I am about to marry a Khmer girl and I am concerned about giving her money. I am worried she will run off with it. Are there ways of getting the money back if she pulled a runner on me once I gave it to her? We agreed to 6000USD. Should I record a video of us talking about our wedding or would our facebook chats be considered evidence in a Khmer courtroom? Would it be ideal to give her a debit card with the bridewealth on it so if she runs I would be able to claim she stole the card?

Are you sure you want to marry someone you think might leave? I wouldn't.
In the end, there's no safe way to get married anywhere. At any time, that person can walk away from you, cheat on you and in some cases steal from you.
Vetting is important, and if your intuition leaves you feeling uneasy, walk away.
Either way, good luck!

I know she has more to gain from the marriage than I do. All I would have to gain is a young pretty wife for a few years and perhaps citizenship to Cambodia which has really never been a huge ambition for me especially seeing that I have always dreamed of obtaining Russian citizenship. Her marriage to me gains her the potential to have mixed raced children which I know many Cambodians want, she has an opportunity to get a green card in the future and our children could go to school in the USA practically free of charge. Not to mention better financial security

Maybe OP should ask if his dealership can provide any warranty extension service.

Can’t you just get her to do a pinky promise?
Why would you pay a woman $6000 to marry you in the first place?
None but ourselves can free our mind.
Because she wouldn't do it for a penny less.Visser wrote:Why would you pay a woman $6000 to marry you in the first place?

Romantic Cambodia is dead and gone. It's with McKinley in the grave.

Maybe you should get to know this woman to the point that you're not wondering if she's a thief. I can't imagine going into a marriage with this type of suspicion hanging in the air.Putin4ever wrote:I am about to marry a Khmer girl and I am concerned about giving her money. Treat it like a project.
10% Down payment
Milestone payments based on whatever milestones you deem important and appropriate; Learning to cook a perfect roast, taking it up the clacker ...etc..
A default penalty if she leaves within X timeframe or penalties for failing to meet the above milestones within X timeframe.
This will lesson the immediate financial burden and ensure controlled expenditure over the course of the happy union - for however long that might not be.
cheers

If she's not a virgin, it's not necessary. *fly away*Putin4ever wrote:I am about to marry a Khmer girl and I am concerned about giving her money. I am worried she will run off with it. If you have these types of concerns BEFORE marriage, DO NOT marry her. Do you think your fears will cease afterwards? You're setting yourself up for some major disappointment and heartbreak.
