Car that best retains its value

What car here best retains its value to then resell it?
In the US I think Toyota Tacomas have a great resale value. Here, I’m not quite sure.

We had an 02' Tacoma 2WD 2 door as a side vehicle for a year that we bought for $9k, put on around 5k km and sold it for $8,300 the day we posted it. Seemed to hold it's value well for us.
Old cars (older than 10 years) all retain their value no matter what they are.
The older it is (20 year old CRV, Rav4, Camry) cost pretty much the same now than four years ago.
New cars always lose value but not like western countries.

Bought a big badass lexus 2 years ago. The previous owner contacted us last week to check if we're interested in selling it back to him for the same price. We declined, they're actually gaining value with the new import taxes on 2nd hand cars
Bought a 2000 Lexus RX300 for $20k when I got here 11 years ago, sold it four years later for $19k - the country is bananas.
I'd say any Toyota or Lexus is going to hold a good deal of value. If you want to see the full bag of crazy - https://www.khmer24.com/en/search?q=lexus+rx300 - yep, still going for $10k-$22k eleven years later ... fully updated to 2020 bong, special price!!

I think that as long as it's not an uncommon make / model, you can't go too wrong. Toyota and Lexus certainly no problem.
I always liked the look of the Tacomas, but lots of people cautioned me on the fuel consumption. In the end I bottled it and bought a Rav4, which I'm very happy with and is a much better car for in the city anyway, but can also easily handle trips to the province.
We are looking at getting a second car next year. Can't decide whether to get a smaller Toyota for the wife and I'll use the Rav4, or give her the Rav4 and get something bigger for me. Whatever we get, I'm pretty sure it will be a Toyota.

I’ve seen an unusually large amount of those Toyota Tundras in Kampot. They are massive.
Even worse most are 5.7L V8s. I mean, what’s the point!
I’d like to get rid of my CRV and get a C280 or E430 but they’re no good at going off-road.

I only dropped 2k on my 94 diesel landcruiser after 3 years and shit loads of km on and off road. It was a bulletproof workhorse and in very good nick. French guy that bought it from me still rolls around town in it although he's trashed it a bit which irks me.
Rated R for Ricecakes
I think you should stab him in the arse.
Not because he’s French (they deserve hollow point bullets) but because he dissed your ride.
No respect. Reprehensible.

Do they do car leasing in Cambodia? I've got a 2018 Mazda CX-5 lease in the US, wonder what they go for in Cambodia.
I've seen the CX-9 sale price, it's absurd.

Bought one for wifey last year. Officially at 62.5k but we got it during their rainy season special at 58k. Beware tho, while they offer full comfort options the only available engine is a smallish 120hp (or is it 140hp?).YaTingPom wrote:CX5. $60k?
We stopped looking for a second hand one as sellers were asking for crazy prices.

Rolling in $ for ensuring my family is safe driving a modern MX5? You must be either car blind or a tefler.over the rainbow wrote:
