May in or out?
Will May have the balls to shake a stick at the 100+ in her party who think she is useless ?

They all know she's useless. But the 200 Conservative MPs who voted confidence enjoy seeing her squirm in the hot seat and are happy to have her take all the heat for their failed, idiotic policies like the bunch of mealy-mouthed cowards they are.bigphatt wrote:Will May have the balls to shake a stick at the 100+ in her party who think she is useless ?
Her task at hand must be hard enough without those gunning for her. She has already said she will walk when the job is done, but the sideshow goes on. One thing for sure, the pound will take another hit.

This whole thing is like a UK civics lesson. It's a bit funny though that we're only learning about these intricacies of the British system because they're making themselves less relevant, rather than more.Playboy wrote:Correct. But she's probably OK for Christmas.
So Corbyn motioned for a Parliament wide vote of no confidence in May, but she's able to block that vote it seems. So what would be needed is a motion for a vote of no confidence in the government, which if passed would lead to a general election, but as May said she doesn't think Corbyn "has the guts" to do that.
It has to be phrased in a certain way to be binding. Something about "This House......".Miguelito wrote:

Comrade Corbyn deliberately avoided using these words.
But yes, it is pretty fascinating watching the machinations of the parliamentary system, with all its failings, in action. I'm learning lots.
Reassuring too that the House, even the ruling party, cannot always be cowed by the Executive.

Which of the cousins appear to have the more dysfunctional government, UK or US?
France seems to have survived the protests for the moment. That little terrorism scare probably helped,

I think May is doing her best to take first place there, I think she might quote Wellington who said of Waterloo "the nearest run thing you ever saw in your life!." However I think Australia will easily take third place in the dysfunctional government stakes!Wayward Woods wrote:Which of the cousins appear to have the more dysfunctional government, UK or US?
