Is it safe to uninstall pre loaded apps on Huawei Y5 11
Is it safe to uninstall pre loaded apps on Huawei Y5 11
It is a 8 MB phone and is running out of storage space,
I have purchased an SD card and moved photo’s across, but am still running into problems with storage space
It came preloaded with multiple Google apps and other apps which I do not use.
Is it safe to uninstall pre loaded apps that I do not use ?
Thanks.

I refuse to go out with nothing more than a whimper followed by a small farting sound and a shit stain on my bed sheets..
Just thought I'd share that with you.

8 GB?
How much capacity do your floppy disks have, 40 MB?
Even my 10 yo shamed me into upgrading his second hand iPhone as it only had 16 gb

OK, let clear up this 8GB stuff.
I use this phone to call people, because that's what phones are for.
I don't FB, Utube, surf the net on it - etc.
It suites my needs.
The pre loaded apps take up about 7GB and I've loaded - Viber, IMO, Uber and 2 other IView apps.
I'm quite happy to delete some of the pre loaded applications if it's safe to do so.
My question is very simple,
Is it safe to delete these pre loaded apps to free up space.

Yes, it is safe, but read this first. Some apps you can not delete.

ps. in your opening post you put 8Mb, lol which was obviously a typo.

Your phone won't let you delete them. You would first need to get root access to you phones operating system. To do that you will first need to unlock the bootloader.
Then root it.
Then you could install TWRP recovery.
Then a custom Rom with nano Gapps. Nano Gapps is just the bare minimum google apps needed to run apps and have access to the store without bloatware.
It all sounds very confusing but is really quite simple to do. Here is some more info and a custom rom I can recommend---https://rootmygalaxy.net/install-resurr ... -2-nougat/
------------------------- or after rooting-----------------------------
install Titanium Backup and freeze the apps you want to delete to make sure that not using the app will not cause problems then you can back them up then delete them once you have tested your phone with them frozen.
As an alternative, without rooting, you could go to settings/apps then to the apps you want to remove then you will have the option to stop and disable them.

Thanks Beaker,
I will have to ask my neighbours 8 year old kid to translate what you said, but I'm sure it will work for me.

OK,
The main reason I have not trashed this phone is because I need to save the Viber messages and photo's, along with their time line as they are important in providing support information for a Visa.
Is there a simple way to save Viber & Photos, if so I will save to a memory stick, delete them and free up space on the phone..
Please remember to speak slowly when explaining to me how this is done.
Thanks...,

Yes, you should be able to plug in a memory stick and transfer the info there, pretty easy to do. Just plug in the stick, give it permission and go to the file manager and move the files.
You could also use google drive or dropbox to save the information in the clouds both are free for the amount of GB you are needing. Great for pictures too and any other data taking up space on you phone like backup files, etc.

"Root it"
"Plug the stick"
I don't see this ending very well

Why root ?
Just plug in the stick.

Unlocking the bootloader will wipe the phone clean. Also, Huewei don't "officially" give out the code for unlocking the bootloader anymore however there are paid services that will provide the key for about $20.
Bootloader needs to be unlocked to root and the phone must be rooted to delete system apps.

You will need to backup the data you want to keep anyway so maybe a mute point.Gin&Tonic wrote: ↑Mon Apr 01, 2019 6:45 pmUnlocking the bootloader will wipe the phone clean. No need to pay unless you don't understand the information in the pages below, this is the process they will use to do it also:
[Tutorial] How to unlock bootloader without original unlock key from Huawei!

That done then you would need to root it to remove the bloatware.
IMHO this phone is not really worth all the effort better to just backup your data to google drive or dropbox then upgrade to a new phone and reinstall the data from the cloud.

As it sounds like the timeline is important, I'd just keep it as is and buy a new phone. Redmi note 7 : 6.3" screen 64GB, 6GB ram, fast processor, long bat life and a 58 mgp dual cam. Around $215
