Morocco..
anyone been?
Catching a flight to Spain this week and thinking instead of southern Europe what about cycling Morocco instead!
Cheap or expensive?
Food, good or bad?
Beer, hopefully none as I needa dryout.
Roads, bicycle doable or not?
Weather , wrong time of year or not?
Cheers for any sensible replies.

k440, something to do when you're pissed.
I've been there for about one week 7-8 years ago. In Agadir, which was totally forgettable. But the food was good, prices were low and people generally very friendly.

Chefchaouen is the blue village in the mountains where the hippie tourists go.

Fabulous country. Must have been 9 or 10 times. Not much beer about but that pollen. oh Lordy.
Fez is one of the most extraordinary places I have ever been.
Having said that I haven't been since the early '90s but apart from a few places on the coast and Marrakech I don't think it will be all that touristy because of the throat slitting fear.

I loved the food in Marrakesh, North African/Arabic food with heavy french influence. And all good value
Beer easy enough to get in restaurants and hotels. I can’t remember drinking it around the squares/street food places.

"I don't care what the people are thinking, i ain't drunk i'm just drinking"
Never heard it and I was in some ropey old joints.spitthedog wrote: ↑Mon Jun 03, 2019 2:02 pmIs/was it common to get robbed after yer drink has been spiked over there?

It wasn't advisable to get too near the hash producing areas unless one had, ehem, good reasons for going.

Went there in May 2016
Rabat surprisingly nice
Fez was great
Casablanca disappointing, noisy central square, begging fat ladies with babies, not much to do
Marrakesh also disappointing, clean and modern, I expected it to be more adventurous
Could be hot south of Atlas-Mountains now.
I liked hiking in the Dades Valley. Modest locals. Small hotels run by local families.
Essaouira very nice, but small
Food a bit boring after a week and not as good as Middle-East/Lebanon

No white man hides himself in the wilderness without a reason
What's the name of that delicious broth everyone eats in the morning?
Some of the best people watching in the world, stoned in a streetside tea shop, especially when everyone goes for the sundown stroll/flirt. Extraordinary mix of faces and some very hot women but therein lies danger.

Was searching for some information about the demolition of the Essaouira Mellah (Jewish quarter). Even during the day it's a bit grim with men hanging around and prostitution in some remaining buildings. Explained well over here
Recommended restaurant in Essaouira: https://restaurantlatolerance.com/
When you sit on public bench in Marrakech after sunset, it could get a bit romantic .
