Because the technology doesn't exist and isn't in place. This isn't rocket surgery.
You think the problem is that people aren't being positive enough? Are you a simpleton?
And who are you quoting for proof as the "technology does not exist"?
Norway is not in the EU (although it is in the single market) and its 1,000-mile border with Sweden is the EU's longest land border. Cars go through unmanned border posts equipped with cameras that use an automatic number plate recognition system and a sophisticated computer system allows goods to be declared to customs before they leave warehouses.
At present only lorries are checked but the European Research Group (ERG)has outlined a "unique solution" involving a mix of technology and a simplifying of custom procedures in its report A Better Deal. "No checks at the border" would be needed, Hans Maessen, one of report authors, told BBC News. He said checks could be carried out at warehouses instead.
Yes that was a pro Brexit group but the other negative reports are by Remain groups.
As I said, this need both sides to make it work. It can work but I guess it's easier for Ireland and the EU to put up road blocks and go back to the 70s. After all, the EU cannot be seen to be wrong or working with the UK to make it a success. The EU have a vested interest in making Brexit fail.
Sleep, those little slices of death — how I loathe them.
