I've been spending a lot of time in Phuket recently ..... first time visitor for the bars and fun then Patong is best but it's tiring after awhile . I stay in Surin / Bang Tao but for bars etc that are a lot easier to hang out in then Kamala is good and lots of restaurants right on the beach . It's about a 10 min drive away from Surin. Maybe some time in Patong and Kamala .

Like everyone else recommended here, Bangla road is the best place to head for Nightlife in Phuket. You could head to Kata on one of the days if you want to chill at a bar with a more mellow vibe.
You can also consider taking a trip to Phi Phi, which has some amazing beach parties. Also, while in Phi Phi, you can also try going to one of the Booze Cruises (It's more of a Day-time experience though)

I think this is good advice.Lucky Seven wrote: ↑Wed Jul 31, 2019 1:54 pmI've been spending a lot of time in Phuket recently ..... first time visitor for the bars and fun then Patong is best but it's tiring after awhile . Other things to keep in mind is just how big Phuket is, and depending on your arrival time and where you're staying you might need to account 60-90 minutes for a taxi to/from the airport to your place.
A load of hotel options of course, but also lots of good villas/condos on AirBnB it seems.
Avoid boat trips out of Chalong Pier unless you like to hang out with a busload of Chinese tourists.
Great hashing in Phuket. The main hash is Saturday afternoon, but there a load of other ones in the mix as well.

The only thing I remember about Phuket was I was supposed to be there on December 26th, but the school kept on changing the holiday dates and I forfeited the flight and flew elsewhere.

I agree that I like Lanta more. I go to Phuket about 3 times a year, mainly for the sailing and the hash, but it’s a bit of a shithole. Lanta is chill and easy to ride a moto around, can have nice resorts or casual beers on the beach, or even find a deserted beach. Of course a quieter island, but very friendly people as they haven’t dealt with drunk whore mongering westerners (not that there’s anything wrong with that) for 40 years.over the rainbow wrote: ↑Sat Aug 24, 2019 8:18 pmpray tell, in what ways?

How come Brits and Aussies haven't found out about that place yet?Miguelito wrote: ↑Sat Aug 24, 2019 11:10 pmI agree that I like Lanta more. Lanta is a laid back Moslem island. The only real town, Saladan, does not offer much other than a bit of shopping and some good inexpensive restaurants.
I started visiting lanta back in the early 2000 when got bored with the development in Ao Nang, > back than the main road was dirt and outside of long beach, few resorts/hotels
Now its hotels/resorts on the whole western side.
Not a place to go for night life, place to visit with your SO and or kids to just kick back and enjoy the sea and beach and early to bed

Lucky escape Vlad. I was in Khao Lak on 25th. Boarded a live aboard dive boat that evening, and headed out towards the Andaman Islands.
We did our first dive early on 26th in strange currents, and were back on the boat having breakfast when the tsunami came through. A relatively safe place to be, all things considered.

Phuket is just too developed. When you have to pay for your sunbed it's game over. Even the once laid back getaway of Kamala beach now feels like a tourist factory.
I could be wrong , but i would think Ko Lanta still has that nice combination of laid back hippie shack feel, with just enough luxury to keep one happy.
Anyway, if i was gonna have a beach holiday in Thailand i'd probably head for Ko Lipe.
