What position is that? I never said people weren't stupid. Of course he is popular, so was Thatcher.
The only point I wish to make at the moment is that I'm slightly more Democratic than you are.
What is this "What position is that? I never said people weren't stupid."? I have no idea what you are talking about. If it is a quote by someone, at least link it, if it is a new comment then explain it.
As for democratic, Yeh right on brother. What is your definition of democratic?
Oxford English Dictionary
Democracy: Government by the people; that form of government in which the sovereign power resides in the people as a whole, and is exercised either directly by them (as in the small republics of antiquity) or by officers elected by them. In mod. use often more vaguely denoting a social state in which all have equal rights, without hereditary or arbitrary differences of rank or privilege.
The Cambridge Dictionary
Democracy: the belief in freedom and equality between people, or a system of government based on this belief, in which power is either held by elected representatives or directly by the people themselves:
Just like the European Commission, oh hang on a minute, they are not elected by the people, are they? And just like the referendum where the "People" voted to come out....No hard/soft boiled Brexit, just out and yet the elected MPs would try top stop that. Don't you just love Democracy?
Democracy is both direct and representative. The people vote for people to represent them. The Greeks tried getting eveyone eligible to vote together.in a true representation of their views.
Unsurprisingly, they found they'd rather stay at home and work on the farm whilst bitching about their MPs.
You're on the side of direct democracy re the referendum, I'm firmly on the side of representative democracy in this case as no one but bankers and mad men want a no deal exit, or possibly any exit at all.
The tides turn and change. A true democracy would be representive of those changes.
