Can i really be arsed i'm thinking?
If we ate out, the wife would probably order a curry. If she doesn't enjoy a roast what's the point i ask you?
Is the season of goodwill really about spending a few hours cooking or eating a roast dinner for 1?
There's a BBQ in the garden. The alternative is to stand outside in the freezing cold for an hour or two cooking thai BBQ chicken.
Happy holidays.

Since it is xmas, just cook or order what you like best. Cook if yer festive, r order if yer a lazy bastard. Easy peasy.
I love bitches n gonna fuck Texas and the USA+ right up their god damn ass! Hallelujah!
Funny, been thinking over the same question today, even fondled a couple of turkeys in Tai Hout this morning.
But I think I've decided 'no'. My wife would only eat a little and the kids wouldn't appreciate it. They're just a bit young.
And having just moved house I'm feeling pretty worn out. So think we'll keep it simple. Do something more elaborate next year.
On the plus side, we got stacks of booze, and a Marks and Spencer Christmas pudding and Christmas cake. I will be attempting to make some brandy butter for the first time!

I always go out for one, no way I'd be able to make one at home.

At Christmastime it's hard, but when you're having fun
There's a world outside your window
And it's a world of dread and fear
Where the only water flowing
Is the bitter sting of tears
And the Christmas bells that ring there are the clanging chimes of doom
Well tonight thank God it's them instead of you.

I was working right next to the radio at work all week, and the Christmas songs seemed to be on repeat, coming at me like machine gun fire, or like someone hitting me on the head repeatedly for 9 hours straight with a giant inflatable mallet.

Gone to a house gathering before, besides that never done anything special. I did get some decorations about, that’s as far as I’m going.

No Christmas music in the hotel I work in but yes, there will be a lavish spread tonight. Roast, turkey, all the trimmings, but I will zero in on the cheese board.

I've done mine at home every year bar one where we did a hotel Christmas special which was dire - first year of Sofitel opening if I recall. After being served two slices of turkey, one roast potato and whatever else they threw on the side, I was bitterly disappointed & decided to always cook at home instead. Free flow champagne is nonsense for me, it's all about getting totally stuffed with turkey, spuds and all the trimmings.
This year I didn't get my usual package from Blighty with ready made mince for pies or shortcrust pastry, so I made them totally from scratch with ingredients readily available at Thai Huot. I made enough in my first batch to make maybe 100 mince pies, may have to review the recipe I was using on serving sizes - got a feeling it meant 'big jars' rather than individual pies as the serving!!
Anyhow, I'll continue doing it probably even when my son has moved out - at the moment with a young lad in the house Christmas is very special, so doing all the traditional stuff is important to me & he absolutely loves it, super excited as I was when I was his age. When I'm older maybe it can be a smaller affair and just accept the crap that a hotel will serve up as a seasonal novelty & focus more on the port & cigar end of the deal.
